About Hope Community
Hope Community, Inc., is a community-based not-for-profit affordable housing organization. Founded in 1968, the organization also enriches the lives of the people who live and work in East Harlem and surrounding neighborhoods through cultural arts, economic development, and social service alliances. Hope seeks to rebuild the physical infrastructure of East Harlem by creating attractive, high-quality affordable rental and owner-occupied housing. Hope seeks to strengthen the neighborhood’s social fabric by assisting in the growth and success of local businesses, by assisting residents to enhance their lives and incomes, and by sponsoring community programs.
DUTIES:
- Oversee all financial operations, financial planning, and structure
- Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management, external parties, and Board of Directors
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Ascertain financial risk areas and methods for improvement
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for financial accounting and reporting.
- Manage the financial team including coaching and developing employees and teams for a more effective skill set and work environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree
- At least 7 years of fiscal management experience
- Ability to translate financial concepts and collaborate with senior leadership who may not have finance backgrounds
- A record of accomplishment in grants management
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
- Proficiency in YARDI 7S
- Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals on the finance team
- A successful record of accomplishment in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
