Position Overview:
One of our clients in San Antonio is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Accounting and Finance to oversee and lead the accounting operations. This role will ensure the organization maintains high standards of financial integrity and compliance, supervising a team of three accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in accounting, an active CPA certification, and strong leadership skills, combined with a thorough understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the accounting department, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Supervise and mentor a team of three accounting professionals, fostering skill development and career growth.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing variance analyses to inform decision-making.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring strong safeguards over financial reporting and organizational assets.
- Conduct and review audits, both internal and external, to ensure compliance with standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and financial reporting laws.
- Serve as a key advisor to senior management by presenting clear and concise financial reports and insights.
- Support the implementation of accounting software or ERP systems, ensuring optimal configuration for accurate reporting.
- Stay current on accounting regulations, standards, and best practices, proactively implementing changes as necessary.
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure smooth audit and compliance processes.
- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Qualifications:
- CPA certification required.
- Extensive experience in accounting, with a strong background in public accounting preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel).
