Position Summary
This position is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and directing all activities related to the mechanical, structural, and building trade functions at Southeast Technical College (STC). The Director of Facilities will be responsible for operational and capital planning budgets and for all facilities management needs on campus. Additionally, this position will supervise the custodial and groundskeeping staff ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of campus facilities.

Certified Facility Manager (CFM), licensed general contractor, or licensed mechanical or electrical engineer preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office environment and use standard office equipment, including a computer and motor vehicle. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions when traveling between buildings on campus. The position is a primarily sedentary office position, but will occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials or objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.

Essential Functions
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all college buildings, grounds, and utilities.
- Supervise and lead the facilities team, including maintenance, custodial, and grounds staff.
- Schedule and supervise maintenance and repair activities, including contracted services and custodial services.
- Develop and monitor the department budget, order equipment and supplies, and manage inventory.
- Ensure the campus complies with relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations and safety standards.
- Contribute to strategic planning by evaluating and projecting future facility needs and proposing options to achieve them.
- Coordinate and manage external contractors for various services such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and landscaping.
- Develop and update emergency action plans and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Help coordinate capital improvement projects, including renovations and new construction.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, building trades, or a related field required.
- Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in physical plant maintenance, with at least three years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of carpentry, electric, plumbing, HVAC, grounds, custodial, and general facility maintenance.
- Other requirements:
- Computer skills: Ability to use email systems, word processing, and spreadsheet software
