Job Description
Reporting to the AVP Facilities Development, the Director of Facilities Operations directs the activities of Engineering Services, Biomedical Engineering Services and Environmental Services. The Director will provide vision, leadership and direction to the staff of the departments, so that the mission of the hospital are achieved in a customer-focused, cost effective and safe manner. Directs the day-to-day operations and provides future planning for Meriter facilities which includes areas of responsibility for Engineering, Housekeeping, Patient Transport, physical plant, grounds, and Biomedical Engineering Services. Other major responsibilities include, monitoring preventative maintenance and demand work order systems and general facility upkeep.
The Director will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of CMS, DNR, DNV, NFPA, and federal, state and local AHJ’s. The Director will work closely with Facilities Planning, Design and Construction to ensure system standards are being upheld and can be maintained into the future.

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Business Administration and/or B.S. Degree in Engineering and/or comparable healthcare management experience.
- 7-10 years experience in facilities and/or environmental services operations and 3-5 years supervisory experience within a health care organization.
- Knowledge of hospital building systems – boilers, chillers, DDC control systems, HVAC, plumbing, is essential.
- Computer Experience - Word Processing/Spreadsheets/CAD/Maintenance Management Programs)
- M.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Business.
- M.S. Degree in Health Care Administration
- Experience in building construction.
- Experience with union work force
- Experience with computer applications (e.g. TMS, Talon, CAD etc.)
- Professional Engineer;
- CHFM
