About the Job
Our Client is looking to hire for a Director of Engineering in Washington DC. This is a direct hire role with excellent pay and benefits.
Job Responsibilities:
• Overseeing all aspects of project design and engineering, from conceptual to advanced system design.
• Coordinating with clients, suppliers, engineering partners, and contractors to support project design and implementation.
• Collaborating with internal and external teams to define system use cases, requirements, and establish project technical baselines.
• Contributing to the comprehensive design and delivery of projects, including development, construction, and operations.
• Leading technical tasks for proposal preparation, projects, and assessing potential project/supplier acquisition opportunities.
• Preparing technical documents and exhibits for engineering, procurement, and construction partners.
• Developing Requests for Offers/Proposals (RFOs/RFPs) for equipment and overseeing the associated process.
• Conducting technical due diligence on technology partners and solutions.
• Reporting to the leadership team on the planning and technical design of projects.
• Establishing and overseeing company policies and processes for the execution of design activities.
• Managing and providing guidance to junior employees in engineering energy storage projects.
Experience Requirements:
•Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience in the renewable/BESS industry.
• Extensive technical expertise in energy storage projects or other relevant inverter-based, utility-scale generation projects.
• Knowledge of plant design and optimization.
• Familiarity with the National Electric Code and various Standard Industry Codes, including IEEE and NFPA.
• Ability to motivate and develop team members.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive technical expertise in energy storage projects or other relevant inverter-based, utility-scale generation projects.
• Knowledge of plant design and optimization.
