The Director of Engineering (Hydraulics)The Director of Engineering (Hydraulics) is accountable for leading multiple Engineering managers and focuses on positioning teams to be productive and successful. The Director will also maintain substantial interaction with major customers and suppliers to ensure alignment and successful project execution. This includes balancing strategic thinking and successful execution. The Director of Engineering will help establish priorities, remove barriers, and shift resources between teams when necessary. This position reports directly to the President, supporting his/her goals and helping to drive productivity and measurable results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and customer support teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Ensure engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Maintain substantial interaction with major customers and suppliers to foster strong relationships and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Address and resolve technical issues, provide technical support, and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Lead the recruitment, development, and retention of newly graduated engineers through effective internship programs and onboarding processes.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff, providing career development opportunities and promoting professional growth.
- Drive the implementation of performance management processes across all engineering disciplines.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to Engineering Managers and their teams.
- Identify and address performance gaps, providing coaching and support to improve individual and team performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university is required
- A minimum of 15 years of hydraulic or electric product design and 5 years of management experience required
- Experience in building a culture of empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Experience working on MS Office, analyzing data, and presenting to senior management
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for a long period.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods.
- Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in the operation of office equipment
- Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
- Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.
- Body motor skills are sufficient to enable the incumbent to move around an office environment.
- Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate responses.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Working Hours/Environment
Office hours average 40 per week
Office-based with some site visits to engineering projects as needed.

This position may require occasional travel to customer and supplier sites.
