The Lactation Network is hiring a Director of Engineering. This role will lead the development and evolution of new and existing products, including business analysis, development, and quality assurance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of software engineering in complex environments and extensive experience leading high-performing engineering teams.

Role Breakdown
- Strategic and Tactical Leadership (50%)
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking software engineering strategy
- Drive innovation by staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of software engineers, business analysts, quality assurance analysts, and managers,
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Engineering Oversight (30%)
- Oversee all stages of software development projects to ensure timely and successful delivery
- Encourage and empower cross-functional collaboration between all teams
- Guide managers to deliver exceptional products while fostering growth within their teams
- Ensure adherence to architectural best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
- Process Improvement (20%)
- Continuously evaluate and refine engineering processes to enhance delivery and system stability
- Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor performance and inform data-driven decisions

- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team
- Identify opportunities to leverage data for improved customer experiences, operational efficiency, and revenue growth
- Establish a test-driven development environment with robust data integrity validation
- Ensure data security compliance with industry standards for medical and technical field
- Effectively communicate complex data insights to diverse stakeholders
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document, organize, and expose critical data
- Create and maintain documentation for data storage and pipelines
- Develop an on-ramp for incorporating advanced technologies such as machine learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field
- 7+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience working in an agile environment
- Strong knowledge of estimating and planning methodologies
- Proven architectural experience on large-scale projects
- Expertise in agile tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
- Excellent understanding of cloud-based computing environments
