Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead our Emergency Department. This role focuses on service delivery, growth, personnel management, resource allocation, and ensuring consistently high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and address real or potential issues affecting the Emergency Department and implement effective solutions.
- Actively participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Drive initiatives to enhance the patient experience within the Emergency Department.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to subordinates, supporting their professional development and evaluating performance.
- Uphold Human Resource policies and ensure effective communication of organizational information to staff.
- Promote evidence-based employee engagement practices and develop future leaders within the department.
- Establish and enforce standards of emergency care, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee a performance improvement (PI) program to monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care.
- Ensure operational excellence, delivering quality services aligned with professional standards.
- Support talent recruitment efforts and participate in patient and employee rounding.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required).
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Licenses/Certifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice (required).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- Experience
- 3–5 years of recent experience as a Director of a large acute care Emergency Department.
- Proven track record of improving operational metrics and patient experience.
- Strong leadership, with steady employment history and minimal short-term roles.

- Supported by ~45 FTEs and two ambulances.
- Compensation
- Salary: $115k–$145k (based on experience).
- Annual Performance Bonus: Up to 15%.
