Overview:
The Director of Electrical Engineering plays a crucial role in leading and managing the electrical engineering department within the organization. They are responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Director of Electrical Engineering collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, maintain high-quality standards, and deliver projects within defined timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and implementing electrical engineering strategies and initiatives
Leading and managing a team of electrical engineers and professionals
Overseeing the design and development of electrical systems and components
Ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Collaborating with other departments to integrate electrical systems into larger projects
Conducting feasibility studies and cost analysis for electrical projects
Participating in the selection and management of external vendors and contractors
Managing project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
Providing technical guidance and expertise to the engineering team
Identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiency measures
Resolving technical issues and challenges as they arise
Communicating progress, challenges, and successes to senior management
Ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for the electrical engineering team
Contributing to the overall strategic planning and growth of the organization
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Demonstrated expertise in electrical design, analysis, and implementation
Proven track record of successfully leading and managing a team of engineers
Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
Excellent project management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation
Ability to build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships
Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement
Strategic thinker with a focus on long-term business goals
Proficiency in relevant software and tools (AutoCad and Revit preferred)
Commitment to safety, quality, and excellence in all aspects of work
Ability to travel as needed for project-related activities
