About the Job
Job Summary:
The Director of Development is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all contributed support (both cash and in-kind) for our client in accordance with budget goals for each fiscal season.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of development department staff
• Ensure maintenance of donor records electronically and in physical files
• Strategically plan and follow through with solicitations, structuring sponsorships/memberships, and/or recognition to achieve maximum support level from all donor categories (foundation, corporation, individual, and government)
• Develop and implement sponsorship packages and other recognition (program ads, website listings, signage, curtain speech, etc.) as desired by the donor and in keeping with our client's policies and goals
• Work in conjunction with the Executive Director and Board Nominating Committee to recruit and engage the Board of Directors
• Provide oversight, guidance, and direction for volunteer functions – special events/functions, membership recruitment & renewal, hospitality of out-of-town guests, membership communication, production, and other volunteer duties
• Implement, in coordination with the Managing Director and Executive Director, fundraising/Black Tie and donor engagement events throughout the season
• Strategically plan and implement donor stewardship, engaging other departments as needed
• Coordinate with the finance department to identify and manage pledge fulfillment
• Assist in budget creation alongside Executive Director, Managing Director & CFO
• Oversee grant requests and final reporting requirements for local and national foundations
• Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of professional experience
• Bachelors or higher college degree
• Self-starter with strong teamwork skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and implementation skills
• Impeccable attention to detail and highly organized
