The Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation is seeking an experienced and visionary individual to lead our local and statewide community organizing efforts with both vision and urgency. The Community Organizing Director should be firmly grounded in anti-racist/intersectional approaches, leadership development, popular education and have a strong community organizing expertise. The COA Director will be a pivotal leadership figure within DHDC's community-centric organizing initiatives and campaigns. This role is centered on fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including residents, local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and businesses. The director acts as the linchpin in creating, maintaining, and advancing community-based projects that aim to address local needs, enhance social cohesion, and improve the overall quality of life within the local and state-wide Latino community. Through strategic vision and effective communication, they will build a unified approach to tackling challenges such as voting rights, racial disparities, immigration & language justice, access to education, health disparities, environmental justice, and housing issues. As a steward of community engagement, the Community Organization Director should embody the principles of advocacy and self-determination. They are responsible for ensuring that the voices of the community members are not only heard but also take leadership roles in the decision-making processes that affect their lives. By leveraging their expertise in community dynamics and organizational management, the director should cultivate an environment where inclusive participation thrives, leading to sustainable development and resilient communities. This role demands a deep understanding of both the socio-economic factors at play and the cultural nuances of the populations we serve, balancing empathy with strategic action to create meaningful impact.
