As Director of Commercial Construction, you will join a dynamic team environment collaborating on exceptional commercial projects across industries. Brodson is proud of its portfolio of work for top-notch clientele throughout Florida and across the United States.
The Director is responsible for overall leadership of our project management team, and oversees the profitable execution of the projects under their management including safe, on-time, on budget completion, adherence to corporate and contract compliance, quality control and customer satisfaction. Projects may include ground-up retail, restaurants, and TI remodels of both large and small scale.
We are seeking candidates who have knowledge of full ground-up construction and have ample experience working with high-end finishes, have worked in both field and office settings, and has several years of director-level experience at a mid to large size general contractor.
We have projects in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The Director will work in our office located in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, with job site visits required on a regular basis.
Essential Duties:
- Provides managerial leadership to all project managers in the commercial division.
- Recruit, train, and coach talent to perform the job duties effectively. Match talent to project scope. Review field staff and develop performance improvement plans where appropriate.
- Extensively supports project management in tackling project complexities to create effective solutions and deliver excellent service and project completion.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and satisfaction. Attend all scheduled meetings necessary to monitor and manage projects and gauge client satisfaction with project progression at all times.
- Delivers superior service to all clients and vendors at all times and oversees general relationship management and development across all projects.
- Provides oversight in managing all necessary resources throughout the entire project from start-Â- up through closeout and ensures that the owner's expectations, schedule, and profitability objectives are met.
- Supports preconstruction in the acquisition and definition of pipeline projects.
- Meets financial targets for the commercial construction division; manage labor and general conditions cost on all projects.
- Ensure projects are closed out efficiently and to the highest standards inclusive of receipt of permits, handover to client, and punch list completion.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, resolve issues, and implement improvements in processes and efficiency.
- Ensures that the dayÂ-to--day operations of projects are transitioned effectively to Project Managers and Superintendents from Preconstruction.
- Attends owner and project meetings, maintains continuous client contact to gauge performance perceptions and communicates relevant information to Project Team.

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in the construction industry.
- 5+ years in a management role with 5 or more direct reports.
- Knowledge of full ground-up construction and high end finish work.
- Experience directly overseeing ground-up construction projects in the field.
- Proven record of financial oversight of multiple ongoing construction projects.
- Experiencing in hiring, training, mentoring, and performance managing.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
- Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principles and techniques, as well as accounting principles.
- Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of the teams.
- Effective time management and logical decision-Âmaking ability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Software knowledge - Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, Procore, and Sage 300 PJ
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail evidenced by a strong command of all applicable contract and legal provisions.
- Excellent business judgment demonstrated by consistently achieving profitability objectives and strong project close-Â-uts with client and subcontractor relationships in good standing.
- Strong sense of urgency and initiative. Able to quickly study and react to complex issues.
- Excellent problem-Âsolving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action.
- Team leader with excellent communication skills, able to handle and resolve conflicts fairly and effectively.

- Travel may be up to 30%
- Can type, answer phones, lift up to 40 lbs., sit for extended periods of time, drive to job sites, conduct walk through on active job sites.
