UC Health is hiring a full-time, on-site Clinical Operations Director at UC Health.

This position serves in key leadership roles in collaboration with UC Health, UCP, and UC-COM leadership. This individual functions as an expert practice leader, educator, and consultant to both patient and physician support staff. This position will also include Ambulatory Cardiology, Pulmonary, and Sleep Medicine.

The Director of Clinical Operations provides leadership to managers, supervisors, and/or professional staff accountable for results/performance of multiple related teams guided by the organizational-wide strategy. Develops functional departmental plans including business, quality, regulatory, and productivity to align with organizational priorities. The position provides oversight 24/7 for assigned programs, both on patient and employee outcomes (Safety & Quality).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall operation and performance of Cardiology and Pulmonary Ambulatory Services including patient access, multi-department clinics, ambulatory registration, and coordination of the regulatory and accreditation compliance activities with UC Health programs.
• Responsible for the management of general operations including meeting performance metrics and driving optimal operational performance.
• Represents Cardiology and Pulmonary Ambulatory Services on various system committees and facilitates UC Health Cardiac Steering Committee
• Provides input into financial management activities, forecasts, investments, growth initiatives, and the linkage of financial plans with business strategies for Cardiology and Pulmonary Ambulatory Services.
• Monitors Cardiology and Pulmonary Ambulatory Services' continuous performance improvement efforts. Advocates for appropriate interventions to improve performance to achieve benchmark performance.
• Develops strategy, business plans, and the infrastructure necessary to ensure operations are efficient and effective for service responsiveness.
• Ensures that all new initiatives are thoroughly evaluated, analyzed, and consistent with UC Health policies.
• Works with clinical department management teams to ensure Cardiology and Pulmonary Ambulatory Services are appropriately and efficiently supported
• Works with department administrators (EDBAs) to ensure there is adequate, ongoing, and open communication across Cardiology and Pulmonary Ambulatory Services.
• Works with Compliance to assure compliance with all regulations, accreditation, and UC Health policies and standards.
• Creates and develops outstanding employee engagement through the formation of a culture to support UC Health.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead and direct others. Promotes teamwork and patient-centered approach to daily work.
• Provides guidance and support to direct reports in their professional development.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• Minimum Required: Master's degree in Business, Finance, or Allied Health Field
• Preferred: Degree in clinical or medical field

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years experience in ambulatory operations preferably within an academic setting.
• 10+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated results.
• Minimum 5 years of Cardiovascular/Pulmonary experience, 10+ preferred
• Work closely with Department leadership and subject matter experts to lead process improvement projects and facilitate departmentand division-level programmatic development.
• Collaborates with key system leaders (finance, EDBAs, revenue cycle, etc) on essential financial management activities, forecasts, variances, investments, growth initiatives, and the linkage of financial plans with business strategies/results for UCPC and ambulatory services.
• Demonstrates strong business acumen and knowledge of staffing, capacity, ROI, budget, margins, service, and product offerings, to implement and drive strategic and relevant operational outcomes.
• Able to manage high-performance cross-functional teams from an organizational, interpersonal, and technical perspective
• Promotes talent development by establishing, coaching, and modeling top leadership expectations and requirements
• Promotes effective teams by communicating the long-term vision, setting clear direction, providing appropriate structure, removing barriers, and coaching for top performance.
• Foster independence and autonomy in all staff members in areas of responsibility. Promote and encourage independent thinking and problem-solving behaviors.
• Ensures movement towards high reliability, including accountability for patient outcomes and externally mandated quality and safety initiative outcomes.
• Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes; manages resources for staff participation in improvement work activities.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
• Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
