Job Description
The Director of Cardiovascular Services is a professionally prepared individual responsible for the overall operation of all Non-Invasive Cardiovascular services for the system. Role responsibility includes development and adherence to the operational and capital equipment budgets, maintains staffing according to established guidelines, maintains productivity, ensures quality patient care at all non-invasive cardiology/vascular sites within the enterprise, and serves as a liaison between administration, physicians, and patients. Works closely with the Executive Medical Director and the Medical Directors that have direct or indirect responsibility for Heart and Vascular services.

Job Duties
Operations:
A. Directs and oversees a diverse team of managers/leaders of a system wide Cardiovascular Non-Invasive services
B. Design/implement efficient services, offer revenue enhancements, monitor expenses, benchmark, encourage service excellence and provide effective communications
C. Oversee staff hiring and development, evaluate job performance, offer constructive feedback, discipline as necessary, and provide ongoing coaching to ensure activities are performed within department and SEH policy
D. Responsible for establishing short and long-range goals/objectives with key stakeholders through visioning which support the department, nursing and healthcare strategic plan.
E. Actively supports the nursing shared governance structure and assures that staffs are involved in decision-making.
F. Collaborates with system-wide leaders in strategic planning, decision making, goal setting, communication and coordination of patient care/ services, and allocation of resources.
G. Directs and oversees development and implementation of policies and procedures utilizing current research, evidence-based clinical practice, professional clinical practice guidelines, national accreditation standards, and healthcare trends to develop evidence -based protocols governing client/patient clinical care and activities.
H. Maintains effective system-wide communication and collaboration with various departments and disciplines including physicians, patients, visitors and other stakeholders.
I. Manages human resources to meet clinical needs of patients. Assures that models of care and clinical processes are consistent with any applicable Nurse Practice Act, professional standards, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Nursing Professional Practice Model, and regulatory agency guidelines.
J. Manages and provides supervision for contracted services.
Financial Accountability:
A. Creates, implement, monitors, and controls designated operating and capital budgets.
B. Accountable for budgetary compliance to defined goals/targets and expected outcomes.
C. Interprets and analyze data to assess, plan, and develop capital/operational business pro formas which support system strategic plan.
D. Monitors the adjustment of staffing to meet with needs of the patient demand ensuring staff productivity.
E. Daily/Weekly/Monthly analysis, interpretation and reporting of financial management tools.
F. Prepare, present, track and self-report all threshold capital/operational business plans.
G. Actively seeks opportunities for cost savings initiatives
Patient Experience:
A. Develop, promote, and maintain professional relationships to ensure an environment conducive to customer service and high-quality patient care.
B. Ensures ongoing monitoring of patient satisfaction scores and works within the service line to establish customer service initiatives and goals.
C. Ensure patient experience best practices such as AIDET, leadership rounding, bedside reporting, managing up, etc. are being maintained within areas of responsibility.
Quality:
A. Establishes and maintains an ongoing performance improvement program for all services with the business unit that aligns with the healthcare system performance improvement plan.
B. Monitors that all quality initiatives have a structured process in each area of responsibility to ensure meeting goals and sustaining results.
C. Directs and provides oversight to maintaining compliance to specific business unit regulatory and accreditation standards.
Professionalism:
A. Demonstrates management and leadership skills in directing operational activities and strategic initiatives.
B. Active in professional organizations on a local, regional and/or national level
C. Participates in hospital system activities to support department and healthcare system goals/initiatives.
D. Participates in community benefit activities and outreach to enhance the visibility of the healthcare system and collaborative relationships.

Qualifications
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- MSN, MBA, or MHA
- Licensed to practice in the state where work is being performed
Specialized Knowledge:
- Must have the ability to prepare and interpret budgets, spreadsheets, productivity statements, and justify staffing in all areas of the non-invasive Cardiology/vascular service line.
Kind and Length of Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cardiology/Vascular or similar setting.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience
