Growing together.The Director of Capture Management at Optum Serve leads and manages a team of capture managers while overseeing strategic capture efforts for high-priority federal healthcare opportunities, focusing on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Health and Human Services (HHS).
This role is responsible for building and developing a high-performing capture team, establishing capture excellence processes, and ensuring successful execution of multiple concurrent pursuits that leverage Optum Serve's healthcare expertise, technology solutions, and service capabilities.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely

Primary Responsibilities:Team Leadership & DevelopmentBuild, manage, and mentor a team of capture managers, providing guidance on capture strategy and professional developmentEstablish performance goals and metrics for the capture team aligned with organizational objectivesConduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to capture managersCreate and implement training programs to enhance capture team capabilitiesManage resource allocation across multiple pursuits to optimize team effectivenessFoster a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and best practicesStrategic Capture LeadershipOversee multiple concurrent capture efforts led by team membersReview and approve capture strategies developed by team membersProvide strategic guidance on high-priority or complex pursuitsGuide business development teams in customer engagement strategies and opportunity qualificationBrief capture status and strategy to senior management, providing regular updates on pursuit progress and probability of win (Pwin)Establish and maintain capture processes and best practices across the teamCustomer Understanding & Win Strategy DevelopmentGuide capture managers in building deep understanding of federal customers' mission requirementsReview and approve win themes and value propositionsEnsure consistent quality and approach across all capture effortsFoster senior-level relationships with key customer stakeholdersDirect strategic teaming decisions and partner relationshipsCapture Process ManagementDevelop and implement standardized capture processes and tools across the teamEstablish quality control measures for capture deliverablesOversee capture budgets and resource allocation across multiple pursuitsCreate and maintain capture metrics and reporting standardsDrive continuous improvement in capture processes and methodologiesYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in a leadership role with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams5+ years of experience in federal business development and capture management with a proven track record of winning large federal opportunities (>$100M)Experience with senior-level federal healthcare agency stakeholders and strong relationship-building skills, especially in the DoD, VA and/or HHS marketsProficiency in capture management methodologies and best practices, and experience using project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Workfront)Solid understanding of federal procurement processes, regulations, and acquisition trendsProven ability to develop and execute strategic capture plans and establish capture processesProven excellence in executive-level communications and presentationsProven ability to translate technical capabilities into compelling value propositionsPreferred Qualifications:Formal capture management training or certifications, such as Shipley or similar capture methodologiesExperience with healthcare service delivery models in federal environmentsExperience with commercial healthcare systems and solutionsExperience managing capture teams in healthcare or similar technical environmentsKnowledge of healthcare technology solutions, including electronic health records, health IT systems, and healthcare analyticsUnderstanding of federal healthcare programs, policies, and modernization initiativesPrevious success with federal healthcare modernization initiatives*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C.
Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
