Position Purpose
The Director of Business Intelligence and Data will lead the strategic vision and execution of business intelligence (BI) and data analytics initiatives across Heartland Veterinary Partners. This role is pivotal in developing scalable BI solutions, fostering data-driven decision-making, and guiding the organization toward advanced analytics maturity. The position emphasizes expertise in data warehousing, integration of fragmented and legacy data sources, and strategies for implementing data science concepts. Additionally, this leader will manage BI resources to drive adoption, engagement, and measurable outcomes within the veterinary healthcare sector. This is a full-time remote role.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute Heartland's BI and data strategy, focusing on self-service analytics, enterprise reporting, and unified data platforms.
- Data Warehousing and Integration
- Design and implement solutions for integrating fragmented and legacy data sources, creating unified data warehouses and data marts to support robust analytics and reporting.
- Self-Service Analytics
- Craft a strategy and actionable plan to implement self-service analytics, empowering users to independently access and analyze data while maintaining governance and consistency.
- Data Science Initiatives
- Drive the adoption of data science strategies, such as predictive analytics and machine learning, to foster innovation and improve business decision-making.
- Collaboration
- Partner with business leaders and IT management to prioritize projects, manage resources, and achieve organizational objectives, aligning with Heartland’s mission to empower veterinarians.
- Power BI Expertise
- Define and implement BI reporting architecture utilizing Power BI, ensuring scalability and adaptability to evolving business needs.
- Governance and Best Practices
- Establish and refine BI policies, best practices, and governance models to ensure data integrity and consistency across all veterinary practices.
- Team Development
- Build, mentor, and manage high-performing teams through training, diverse assignments, and leadership development, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Project Management
- Oversee BI projects, manage customer expectations, and balance competing priorities to ensure satisfaction and measurable impact.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in data warehousing, data integration, and working with fragmented and legacy data sources to create unified data solutions.
- Power BI Proficiency
- Advanced expertise in Power BI; 5+ years of hands-on experience required.
- Self-Service Analytics Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement self-service analytics frameworks, driving user adoption while maintaining governance.
- Data Science Knowledge
- Strong familiarity with implementing data science strategies, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics techniques.
- SQL and Data Architecture
- Proficiency in SQL, relational database principles, and modern data architecture practices.
- Analytical Abilities
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights that enhance veterinary practice operations.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Education
- Demonstrated expertise, relevant certifications, and practical experience in BI, data analytics, and data management are highly valued.
- Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with leadership experience preferred. Experience in the veterinary healthcare industry or a related healthcare field is advantageous.
