DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
JOB OVERVIEW
The Director of Business Development identifies new business opportunities, plans and manages capture of opportunities, maintains fruitful relationships with existing customers, assist in development of company strategic plans, and markets company services to achieve revenue targets developed by the COO. This will be accomplished by actively engaging existing and new customers that lead to the financial growth of the company. The Director of Business Development will manage the proposal and estimating team assembled on a by opportunity basis; to respond to competitive and sole source procurements, manage content, and meet intermediate and final proposal deadlines.
This position reports to the COO for review, course correction, and action on the most promising opportunities.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Conducts the research and analysis of business opportunities.
- Locate, explore, and evaluate potential federal business opportunities.
- Analyze competitors to enhance our success rate.
- Interface with groups and company leads to determine applicable federal market areas and scopes of services.
- Lead successful development and execution of win strategies.
- Prepare and lead Go/No-Go reviews.
- Create and implement capture plans as required.
- Attend RFP debriefing interviews and communicate feedback on win/loss with team members.
- Pursue sole source awards.
- Initiate and develop strategic partnerships with large and small businesses.
- Engage industry contacts for the purpose of direct award opportunities being offered to the company.
- Creates connections between subject matter experts in specific industries to the federal customers Gana-A'Yoo is eligible to serve.
- Develops and fosters positive client relationships.
- Manages Gana-A'Yoo proposal efforts.
- Coordinate with proposal teams to ensure proper hand-off and follow-through.
- Collaborates with consultant technical writers working for the BD Department to produce timely and complete proposals.
- Utilizes data provided by the BD Department in pursuit of specific strategies.
- Research expiring 8(a) and HUBZone contract database for relevant leads.
- Exploits an expansive list of expiring 8(a) and HUBZone contracts that are either relevant for capture by the firm solely, or through a partnering relationship where the incumbent may not be eligible but commands an expertise and desires a new Prime 8(a) contractor.
- Positions the Gana-A'Yoo Family of 8(a) firms for direct award opportunities.
- Works independently and collaborates with PM's, GM's and VP's regarding relationships that are worthwhile engaging in person for the purpose of socializing our capabilities for potential direct contract awards.
- Performs incidental tasks related to the position as well as various duties, as assigned, to support the overall objectives/goals of the team while maintaining a positive attitude.
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience in business development required.
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year university is required.
- Successful track record developing business in existing and new government markets (IT, Construction, O&M, Janitorial, Manufacturing, Logistics).
- Demonstrated federal market knowledge, including clients, prime and subcontractors, and geography.
- Demonstrated success targeting and winning service contracts, IDIQ's, MATCO's, Sole Source, etc.
- Demonstrated success in building a pipeline of opportunities.
- Capable of developing and delivering effective sale presentation and marketing material.
- Demonstrated success in all business development areas within a fast-paced, technically focused environment is essential.
- Small Business Administration 8(a) experience required, preferably with an Alaska Native Regional Corporation, Alaska Native Village Corporation or tribal entity.
- Must have contacts within the government contracting industry and other large businesses working in relevant sectors with the federal government.
- Ability to travel when necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will primarily work in an office setting. The office environment is professional, collaborative, and conducive to focused work. The typical office amenities and equipment, including computers, phones, and other necessary tools, will be provided. This position may require minimal travel.
