SGI Global has an opening for a Director of Business Development and Operations in our headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia
The Director of Business Development and Operations will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will serve as an integral member of SGI Global's senior leadership team. He/she will develop, communicate, and implement business development (BD) strategy, practices, and programs that perpetuate the company's revenue growth. He/she is also responsible for coordinating the management of all work performed on SGI's contracts and other programs as directed. Work independently under the general direction of senior management on all phases and levels of performance, including contract management, project/task order management, coordination of resource needs, coordination with corporate resources and management, and has direct accountability for the technical correctness, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.
In short, the position will manage and execute aspects of BD strategy and implementation, while simultaneously managing programs upon award.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Expand market share and increasing revenue;
- Work closely with company's senior leadership to shape and execute the organization's overall business strategy;
- Serve as a resource for executive leadership for developing practice areas and strategy, relationship management, capacity building, and client diversification;
- Develop win strategies and growth plans based upon the overall business strategy, market analysis and internal capabilities;
- Develop and managing relationships with potential and existing customers by cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers;
- Establish third party teaming relationships and leveraging existing contracting vehicles to capture new opportunities;
- Determine budget and resource allocation for the business development department;
- Manage the internal mechanisms to progress opportunities through the business development pipeline from lead generation through agreement and launch;
- Identify personnel resource needs and making hiring recommendations;
- Facilitate BD learning companywide, including tracking and analyzing lessons and best practices from individual proposal efforts, client debriefs, and competitor trends;
- Devise the business development policies, processes and procedures, systems and third-party providers ensuring quality, effectiveness and efficiency;
- Define and monitoring metrics to ensure successful management and deployment of BD initiatives;
- Ensure legal compliance throughout all initiatives;
- Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and consistent learning with a commitment to quality;
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors and promotes the company's core values.
- Coordinate the efforts of the prime, subcontractors, team members, vendors, and customers
- Act as the central point of contact with internal and external customers
- Responsible for the performance of the required work and services under all task orders
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Measure program performance using appropriate tools and techniques
- Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Manage staff performance by communicating and evaluating job performance and enforcing policies and procedures
- Manages contract employees, to include timesheet and expense report review and approval
- Acts as the main liaison to the HQ staff for all administrative issues
- Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, project control analysis, scheduling expenditures, and analyzing variances
Education and Experience:
- Masters's degree strongly preferred; PMP certification a plus
- Knowledge of federal government programs, specifically DoS, DoD, and DoJ program management preferred
- Demonstrable track record of success developing significant new business that generates bookable revenue with federal, state, and local government
- Demonstrated expertise in translating business strategy into supporting business development initiatives;
- High levels of business and market acumen and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in managing multiple programs
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a fast-paced environment
