Director of Bulk Sales - West Region (Swanson Bark Products)
Introduction:
Fast growing and successful green industry firm seeks a Director of Sales. This firm services lawn and garden and agricultural customers by providing bark, mulch, and soil products. The area of responsibility would be in the Northwest including Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Job Objective:
Responsible for all sales and business development activities, from lead generation through close for Swanson Bark & Wood Products. Develops & implements agreed upon Marketing Plan which will meet both personal and business goals of expanding the customer base in the market area. Works within the sales and support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the sale of organic residual products in bulk and/or bags
- Demonstrates technical skills in common Microsoft Office programs and SalesForce
- Develops monthly and annual business plan in conjunction with leadership, which details activities to follow during the month/year, which will focus the Director of Sales on meeting or exceeding goals.
- Complete understanding of pricing and proposal models.
- Demonstrates the ability to carry on a business conversation with business owners and decision
- Makers.
- Implement the logistics of individuals sales by working internally with support staff and
- externally with subcontractors.
- Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a sale resulting in the taking of market
- share from larger competitors.
- Sells consultatively and makes recommendations to prospects and clients of the various
- solutions the company offers to their business issues.
- Creates and conducts effective proposal presentations and RFP/RFQ responses.
- Responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships and referrals.
- Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls,
- presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within their assigned territory.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are
- communicated and implemented within the team.
- Participates and contributes to the development of educational programs offered to clients,
- prospects and company employees.
- Participate in industry and trade groups associated with the firm.
- Travel as needed to industry conferences, trade shows, meetings, etc.
Relationships and Roles:
- Maintain contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of Client Satisfaction.
- Demonstrate ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
- Build trust, value others, communicate effectively, drive execution, foster innovation, focus on
- the customer, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively and demonstrate integrity.
- Be self-motivated and able to work within a variety of business development tasks.
- Work with General Manager, Facility Staff and Back End Support Staff to achieve sales goals and address issues as they arise.
- Lead and directly manage sales reps
Job Specifications:
- Preferred experience in green industry sales
- Educational background and experience to include turf, soil science or agricultural sciences preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
- Willingness to travel and work from a variety of locations
- Spend time in WA, OR, and ID developing relationships and with potential and existing customers.
- Proven ability to achieve sales goals
- Clean driving record
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
Compensation:
- Salary / Commission / Other - Vehicle Allowance
