Director of Broadcast Services - American Airlines Center

About the Job
This position manages all Broadcast and Media Services of American Airlines Center including AV presentation of “third party” events. Serves as primary point of contact for Stars and Mavericks in-house entertainment producers.
Essential Functions: include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Schedules, assigns, plans, monitors and reviews all broadcast related construction projects
- Supervises AAC full-time and part-time Audio-Visual Technical staff, including scheduling, assigning, planning, monitoring, and reviewing the work of all staff performing a variety of assigned projects and tasks
- Plans and coordinates equipment usage schedules, priority of capital expenditures and procedures for equipment maintenance, repairs and upgrades and installations
- Maintains time, payroll, work orders, material, equipment and other departmental records and submits timely reports to Director of Operations to maximize departmental revenues and set pricing structures for broadcast and media services charges to be billed back to third party events and coordinates the charge back of these services with the Events department
- Responds to all broadcast and media issues that arise in the building prior to and during events, including electronic signage, house PA, the video replay room, private suites, concourse monitors and external marquees
- Assists operations department in other related areas such as dock management for broadcast and support trucks
- Schedules, coordinates and facilitates all video, broadcast (closed circuit, commercial insertion and over the air) content origination in the facility including coordination with other departments as well as ensuring coordination with local, regional and/or national networks to maximize potential revenue and minimize facility and tenant disruptions
- Assists in preparation of capital and operations budget while ensuring that budget guidelines are met and departmental expenditures are prioritized
- Assists engineers in design requirements relating to equipment and projected usage
- Works closely with the Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks teams on broadcast and media services needs providing feedback and appropriate response time and works with Events Department and their clients to facilitate their presentation needs
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee should also have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Business, Broadcasting, Engineering, Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8-10 years experience in major market or national network television production, large facility arena AV management, or a combination of both
- 5 years of supervisory experience
- Must have knowledge of basic concepts of component engineering relating to house PA and the facility’s video replay equipment
- Knowledge of all standardized formats to transmit audio and video content for radio and television broadcasts
- Experience estimating time and materials required of assigned work projects
- Knowledge of public assembly facility equipment repair
- Ability to solve problems under severe time restraints
- Must have experience in all aspects of television – engineering, operations, production, programming, and commercial traffic beneficial.

- Position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms use hands to handle, or feel, stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk and sit

- Position requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds while twisting and/or turning
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to respond on an immediate basis during normal business hours, after hours and on weekends via mobile phone is required/company phone allowance is provided on bi-weekly basis as compensation for this job requirement/employee must purchase mobile phone and service plan of their own choosing with responsibility for the repair and/or replacement of the phone
- Employees with this phone access requirement are not restricted in their movement, location, and activities during off hours when they are not at work
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events the noise level may be loud
- Employees must be able to work a flexible schedule in this 24/7 facility including evenings, weekends and holidays as required
