About the Job
The Director of Bridges manages project designs for complex highway bridge projects. Deliver large complex and/or multiple projects on time and within budget. Provide effective execution project management to help reduce the costs of delivering projects and add value to the business by applying proven project management techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
❖ Lead our expanding bridge design team
❖ Plan, organize and direct management and design staff
❖ Mentor staff in the advancement of bridge design
❖ Serve as Lead Structural Designer and Senior Project Manager on specific bridge-related projects
Position Responsibilities:
❖ Interface with the client to ensure expectations are identified and met
❖ Manage, ensure, and enhance project quality by providing ideas and suggestions aimed at improving the effectiveness of project activities
❖ Perform sales activities including client development, proposal and qualifications development, and interviews
❖ Build effective client relationships by working collaboratively with the client & multi-discipline teams
❖ Complete tasks within the assigned schedule and budget
❖ Develop project design criteria, calculations, details, and estimates
❖ Direct proposal efforts for bridge pursuits and write assigned sections of bridge proposals and Statements of Interest
❖ Work with other project managers and unit managers to establish contract budgets and scopes of work.
❖ Plan and schedule engineering work
❖ Implement rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures in conjunction with Agency standards
❖ Organize and develop contract plans

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
❖ Proficient in software programs such as MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Open Roads Designer (ORD) and various bridge design and management platforms
❖ Strong technical background with expertise in superstructure and substructure design, cost estimation, and specification preparation
❖ Proven experience managing staff and coordinating with clients
❖ Strong technical written and verbal communications skills with an ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts
❖ Proven ability to provide leadership to multiple levels of staff
❖ Ability to climb ladders, and work at heights using various bridge inspection access equipment
❖ Promote high performance and consistent accountability for all project team participants
❖ Ability to represent company effectively to staff, clients, and the community in general in a technical capacity
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. S., or B.A.) in Civil Engineering and a minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience in bridge design.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Professional Engineer (P.E.), SECB a plus, ASCE, SE I or SE II, OSHA Certified

LOCATION:
Options of Remote, Hybrid or in Office at our Syosset, NY, Princeton, NJ or Newark, NJ locations.
SALARY RANGE:
$124,900.00 - $182,000.00
