Statement of Purpose:
The Director of Accounting directs the organization’s financial matters. This includes responsibility for financial statement preparation and audit process.The Director serves as a subject matter expert and internal resource for accounting rules and other finance-related matters for both the medical center and physician practices. They conduct financial analyses and implement internal controls. This position provides direct leadership of Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounting. The Director of Accounting reports to the Vice President, Finance & CFO.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent required. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Certification/License: CPA preferred
Experience:
3-5 years of progressive financial management experience required. 2-3 years’ experience in healthcare setting preferred.
General ledger system knowledge; strong understanding of accounting functions, previous Payroll experience preferred
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office products and expertise in Excel.
5+ years of direct management experience including dealing with complex issues or equivalent
Excellent writing skills and demonstration of good project and people management skills are required.
Superior communication skills; skilled listener and encourages direct, open, and honest conversation keeping all staff apprised of appropriate information;
Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships
Excellent coaching, conflict resolution and mentoring skills
Effectively manages team performance, including setting and holding employees accountable to established performance expectations. Ability to deliver effective feedback in a positive and constructive manner
Ability to develop and foster relationships with both internal and external clients, medical staff and other clinicians
