Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following non-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned. All duties are to be performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and credit union policies and procedures.
- Performs a wide variety of accounting activities in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) including, but not limited to, record keeping, account reconciliations, financial, statistical and regulatory reporting, routine and complex financial analysis, budget variance reporting, taxes, and fixed assets.
- Maintains the GL system setup & interfacing applications with Core GL, oversees day-to-day maintenance of GL and subsidiary ledgers.
- Oversees the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports including, but not limited to, monthly financial statements for the credit union, branches, departments, and subsidiaries.
- Coordinates and oversees monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing.
- Oversees the activities of the accounts payable process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, employee expense reports, and corporate credit cards.
- Leads the preparation and review of regulatory reports including the quarterly Call report.
- Leads in the preparation and review of Federal and state tax reporting.
- Coordinates with internal and external auditors and examiners, providing assistance, furnishing documentation and preparing schedules.
- Reviews and ensures monthly general ledger reconciliations are performed timely and accurately.
- Reviews daily and monthly journal entries posted by accounting staff for accuracy.
- Oversees the preparation of an annual budget, financial forecasts and conducts analysis of budget projections, variances, and profitability.
- Manages the Investment portfolio and performs broker due diligence in partnership with the CFO.
- Provides data and prepares reports necessary to monitor interest rate, liquidity, and concentration risks.
- Prepares monthly Asset/Liability Committee reports and meeting packet.
- Prepares quarterly reports for the Risk Oversight Committee meeting packet.
- Prepares profitability reports, and other financial analysis reports for the CFO as requested.
- Establishes and maintains systems and internal controls that verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data.
- Proactively identifies and supports initiatives to meet organizational financial performance goals.
- Formulates recommendations for process improvements concerning department procedures and controls.
- Inspires, motivates, develops and mentors staff to expand their leadership and technical competencies.
- Directs, coaches, and hires staff.
- Administers performance evaluations and recommends appropriate personnel actions.
- Maintains a highly motivated, well-trained and cross-trained staff.
- Ensures operational resiliency for all accounting and finance functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (BS) from a four-year college or technical school in Finance or Accounting; ten years related financial institution or credit union experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of ten years of hands-on finance and accounting managerial experience. Financial Analysis experience strongly desired. CPA certification preferred. State or Federal examiner experience a plus.
Salary Range: $114,473.52-$171,710.28
