Job Summary

Bohannan Huston is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to lead our accounting department. The Director of Accounting & Finance will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic guidance to the Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and a proven track record of driving financial excellence within a corporate environment.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Maintain and monitor robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital to support business operations effectively.

Compliance and Audit:

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors to facilitate the audit process.
• Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and proactively implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.

Leadership and Team Management:

• Provide strong leadership and direction to the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and develop staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and professional growth.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure workload distribution aligns with departmental objectives.

Strategic Planning and Analysis:

• Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that support business objectives and drive growth.
• Conduct financial analysis, performance evaluations, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate potential risks.
• Prepare financial projections, variance analyses, and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making processes.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Serve as a key liaison between the accounting department and other departments, providing financial insights and recommendations to support cross-functional initiatives.
• Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership and board members, contributing to informed decision-making and strategic planning.

WHO YOU ARE

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
• You have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Experience in project accounting for professional services preferred.
• You have a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Exceptionally strong Excel skills required.
• You have a proven track record of successfully leading accounting teams and driving process improvements.
• You have excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
• You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
• You are proficient in accounting software systems; experience with BST or similar platforms is a plus.
