Director of Operational Accounting
Our client is looking for a Director of Operational Accounting to join their team.
LOCATION:
Austin, TX. On-site. Parking provided at the building.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Director of Operational Accounting will work closely with and report to the Controller to oversee aspects of accounting. A successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of accounting processes and experience working in healthcare and/or health insurance. We are seeking a highly organized professional who is a strong people manager with a track record of process improvement. The goal is to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company compliant with all regulatory standards and ensure accurate financial reporting and control.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure proper general ledger commensurate with federal regulations including intercompany transactions and charges
- Analyze transactions to ensure accurate revenue recognition and provision records to the correct accounting period
- Ensure proper recording of intercompany transactions on a timely basis.
- Establish policies and procedures for the department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Oversee accounting for related entities including pharmacy, real estate, TPA and administrative entities
- Oversee month end reconciliations and timely close process for assigned entities and consolidation.
- Research and document technical accounting issues for the consolidated entities and subsidiaries
- Serve as a liaison to external auditors on the company's accounting process and procedures
- Manage the IBNR and other insurance related reserves and reinsurance matters, working cross functionally with the risk management department
- Drive constants improve strategy to increase efficiency by improving infrastructure and automating procedures where possible
- Establish and maintain internal controls
- Work with AP to ensure proper identification and booking of expenses to various accounts including medical loss for quality improvement programs
- Implement process efficiencies and serve as the NetSuite manager - driving improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Partners with finance team to investigate variances between actuals and budget/forecast
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of comprehensive experience in healthcare accounting highly preferred
- Proven track record of managing general ledger and subledgers
- Startup experience preferred - must thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Health edge/VBA or similar health insurance software experience a plus
- ERP System Admin Experience required; NetSuite experience preferred
- BA in Accounting, Finance, Business or another related field required, MBA preferred
- Big four, large regional experience highly preferred
- CPA license or in pursuit of CPA license highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required
- Cross functional team builder and excellent manager, strong communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Desire to learn and expand skill set
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
