Job Details:General Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the development and ensuring the proper administration of policies, procedures and plans to manage all fiscal year sales, receipt, margin and inventory planning, analysis, reporting and forecasting for assigned merchandising division(s).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper management of all fiscal sales, receipt, margin, and inventory planning for the assigned merchandising division(s).
- Lead staff in the use JDA Enterprise Planning to maximize gross margin and perform ad hoc reporting/ forecasting for sales, receipt, margin and inventory opportunities and risks.
- Manage all in-season revisions, forecasting to Merchandising Plans and Open-to-Buy for assigned area.
- Conduct meetings with Merchandising Planning team to communicate opportunities or risks to the plan and changes in strategy to maximize profits.
- Hire, manage, appraise and train Merchandise Planning team members on Merchandise Planning and Analysis techniques and systems.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Demonstrated results-oriented leadership including the ability to model total development and serve as a steward of Dollar General’s mission & values.
- Strong analysis skills sufficient to interpret trends and other merchandise reporting data and provide feedback and recommendations to management.
- Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing technical expertise and good business judgment in support of operational and strategic objectives.
- Proven capability to manage in a high-growth, demanding, and rapidly changing corporate environment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce results by leveraging resources and managing key initiatives effectively.
- Ability to effectively recruit, assess and develop personnel. Strong “hands-on” performance management abilities.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust-based relationships across the organization.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and master new analytical tools.
Work Experience &/or Education:
- 4 Year College Degree (preferably in Business)
- 4-6 years of work experience in Merchandise Planning or Inventory Management
- 3-5 years of experience managing teams above entry level.
- Track record of increasing responsibility and Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience with Merchandising and Planning Systems, Blue Yonder Enterprise Planning experience preferred.
