JOB SUMMARY: The Director, Marketing & Communications, will lead the museum's marketing strategy to enhance visibility, engagement, and attendance, while promoting the museum’s mission of showcasing contemporary art and culture. This dynamic role requires a creative and analytical thinker, writer, and storyteller, with a passion for the arts; strong leadership skills; and a deep understanding of digital and traditional marketing channels. In addition, this role blends both high-level leadership and hands-on administration. In collaboration with senior leadership and key stakeholders, the Director creates and executes the museum’s strategic vision, goals, and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns. Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and analytics with experience in social media strategy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Passion for contemporary art and culture with knowledge of current trends and key players in the field. Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build relationships within the community. Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, or a related field, and 10 years’ recent relevant experience in marketing, preferably in the arts or cultural sector, or any equivalent education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to increase awareness, drive attendance, and promote exhibitions, programs, and events.
- Brand Management: Manage and oversee the museum's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all platforms and communications, while enhancing the museum's reputation in the contemporary art community.
- Digital Marketing: Lead digital marketing efforts, including social media, email campaigns, website content, and online advertising, to effectively engage diverse audiences and promote exhibitions.
- Content Creation: Collaborate with curators and educators to create compelling content that highlights exhibitions, artists, and programs, including press releases, blog posts, and promotional materials.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local artists, art organizations, and the community to foster partnerships and collaborations.
- Audience Development: Analyze visitor data and market trends to identify target audiences and develop strategies for audience engagement and membership growth.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve marketing goals.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the marketing team, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth, creativity, and goal accomplishment.
- Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators to measure the success of marketing initiatives and report on outcomes to museum leadership.
- Attend and work special events, including weekends and/or after regular business hours, as needed.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
