About the Job
- Strategic Leadership: Define and implement a strategy for controls and applications engineering aligned with Fusion Optix’s vision for next-generation lighting solutions. Lead the development of control systems and applications that add value, intelligence, and ease of use to our lighting products.
- Technical Development: Oversee the engineering and development of advanced control solutions, including both wired controls and wireless controls based on protocols such as WiFi and Bluetooth. Contribute to the development of advanced LED drivers, power modules, sensors, and controllers to ensure seamless integration with our architectural lighting products and meet market demands for both functionality and reliability.
- Product Integration: Collaborate closely with product design, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure that lighting controls enhance product performance, customer satisfaction, and market differentiation.
- Thought Leadership & Industry Engagement: Act as a thought leader in the lighting controls industry. Provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs), engage with lighting specifiers, designers, and architects to build relationships and increase Fusion Optix’s presence in the industry. Represent Fusion Optix at industry events and conferences, staying current on trends and promoting the company’s offerings.
- Sales & Marketing Support: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support go-to-market strategies for control-integrated products. Assist in developing sales tools, educational materials, and presentations that highlight control capabilities and value propositions for customers.
- Innovation & R&D: Lead research and development initiatives to incorporate cutting-edge technology, such as machine learning and predictive analytics, into lighting control systems. Drive adoption of open protocols (e.g., DALI, DMX, Zigbee) and customized applications for industry-leading functionality.
- Customer and Market Alignment: Work with sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs, application requirements, and market trends. Ensure solutions are optimized for real-world use and support customer success with tailored solutions.
- Team Development: Build and mentor a team of skilled engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful delivery of control solutions within deadlines and scope.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain high-quality standards for control solutions, from design to testing to post-launch support.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in lighting control systems, applications engineering, or a related role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of lighting control systems (e.g., DALI, DMX, Zigbee, WiFi, Bluetooth Mesh), IoT integration, and application software for lighting. Familiarity with both hardware and software aspects of control systems, including LED drivers, power modules, sensors, and controllers.
- Lighting Design Knowledge: Ability to understand lighting design and layouts, with experience in interpreting architectural lighting plans. Knowledge of lighting design software such as AGi32 or Dialux is a plus.
- Innovation Mindset: Proven track record in developing innovative control solutions that enhance product functionality and user experience.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive projects to successful completion.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies to inform product strategy.
- Communication & Presentation Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in delivering presentations, CEUs, and educational content to industry professionals is a plus.
