The Role:
As the Director, Growth & Ecommerce you will define, implement and execute the immediate, and long-term strategy to aggressively disrupt, shape and grow the Toy Box Brands (Polite Society and Diamond Drunk) global direct to consumer businesses with focus on revenue and performance marketing, as well as supporting the site operations and site merchandising team. This team member has no issue or hesitation with rolling up their sleeves to get the job done, is data-driven, able to challenge the status quo, a digital performance marketing / acquisition / retention expert, and capable of collaboration across all internal cross functional teams and outside partners. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to establishing, implementing, and managing the overall annual ecommerce roadmap, including paid / performance marketing strategy, acquisition / lifecycle / retention marketing, supports site operations, and site merchandising. This role will have oversight and provide key inputs to the global ecommerce P&Ls and contribute to the broader company strategy as a member of the global commercial team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the strategic immediate and long-term direct to consumer roadmap for Polite Society and Diamond Drunk brands ecommerce measured by short term, quarterly and annual KPI’s
- Oversight of scaling ecommerce sites and businesses while working to continuously evolve the Polite Society and Diamond Drunk brands direct to consumer websites to deliver a truly best of class consumer experience and business results
- Develop and own the full paid / performance media budget, as well as the end-to-end strategy and execution of disruptive, outside of the box performance marketing campaigns across Meta, TikTok, and Google including but not limited to PPC, display, social media, and programmatic advertising, with a strong focus on revenue and associated financials
- Own the online consumer journey, identifying / defining specific consumer needs, overcoming roadblocks, and executing programs that push for deeper engagement, increased retention, new consumers, and revenue
Continuously measure and report on growth KPIs to find and act on opportunities to improve
Partner with team to continuously support the testing / learning / implementation of email best practices
Consistently work to identify white space / new growth channels, across both paid and organic to ensure the business is driving growth while being front and center for consumers
- Manage the global direct to consumer P&Ls, including revenue, gross profit, operating expense, and media budget in partnership with leadership and finance
Oversee / support relationships with existing and new marketing vendors / agencies (as needed), staying up to date on latest releases and identifying partnership opportunities to grow the channels
Continuously partner with direct report(s), graphic design, marketing, social, sales, and merchandising teams to collaborate on story-telling opportunities that reflect learnings from reporting and testing and ensure consistent messaging across all marketing channels
- Partner with internal teams and strategic agencies (as needed) to build necessary global ecommerce systems, tools and dashboards for measuring, experimenting and sharing results on business critical KPIs underscoring growth and consumer awareness / engagement metrics
Partner with team to support email and SMS (Klaviyo) channels through data-driven campaign calendar development and list growth strategies that ladder to overall company revenue goals
Partner with team on the flawless building, scheduling, segmentation, and deployment of all emails and SMS campaigns and trigger flows
Partner with team and support the development of always-on journey flows, optimizing and building new welcome, post-purchase, abandonment, and lifecycle programs using insights from customer journey mapping and purchase data
Partner with team on the optimization of retention channels, A/B testing roadmap to consistently optimize all elements of the email/SMS programs, including subject lines, segmentation, creative content, send times, and landing experience
Ensure all paid / performance / retention, et cetera, marketing efforts are in compliance with internal guidelines, industry best practices, and legal regulations, including CAN-SPAM and CCPA
The Candidate:
- Passionate, kind leader, with extensive expertise in scaling digital / direct to consumer business with a focus on performance marketing across Meta, Tik Tok, and Google
- Results-driven, proactive, with a hands-on disruptive approach with paid media campaign and willingness to experiment to hit key goals / KPI’s and expert in Shopify + Google Analytics
- Comfortable with working ambiguously as well as in a group / collaborative setting, ability to confidently navigate project prioritization, and a desire to build and shake things up
- Able to dive into the details and roll up their sleeves, while also being able to work high level and drive long-term strategic initiatives
- Data driven, quantitative and analytical thinker, technical self-starter with the ability to process and understand data while also finding ways to use this information creatively
- Have prior experience working at a high-growth startup and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- 8+ years of digital / ecommerce experience in house on the brand side with proven track record of establishing and leading performance marketing and site/merchandising teams
- Demonstrated strategic business and people management skills
- Ability to work cross functionally with all levels within an organization
