JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President, Financial Management, the Director, Grants & Contracts Accounting is responsible for the financial management and post award administration for the Lundquist Institute’s sponsored funds from federal, state, and local government sources, as well as nonprofit, private, and corporate sponsors. The Director will work across the Institute to develop and support a community of collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure funds are spent in accordance with accepted accounting principles (GAAP), auditing standards, and with federal requirements for direct and pass-through assistance.
· Partner with researchers, project staff, the Financial Management team, and the Office of Research Administration, to a foster positive and effective working environment.
· Provide clear direction, effective performance feedback, and actively mentoring team members.
· Minimize compliance risks, stay up to date with all relevant statutes, regulations, and guidelines as well as train staff and the research community on such relevant requirements.
· Lead and/or support recurring sponsor audits and the annual external financial audit.
· Develop and maintain relevant financial and grants and contracts reporting that supports Institute at large.
· Develop and maintain all applicable policies, procedures, processes as well as training and communicate changes to all relevant parties.
· Take a lead role in the development and maintenance of the financial management system, particularly in the areas directly related to grants and contracts, and post award management.
· Oversee the Clinical Trial Management System with a focus on invoicing, reconciliation, accounts receivable, and reporting in accordance with GAAP.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Ten years recent experience in high volume grants and contracts/post award accounting.
· Five years supervisory/management experience in high volume grants and contract/post award accounting operation.
· Demonstrated expertise with GAAP fund accounting and 2CFR200.
· Working knowledge of software applicable to grants and contracts operations, including Office products such as Excel and Word.
· Working knowledge of and use of large to mid-size accounting, human resources, and payroll systems.
· Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
· Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
· Recent or current professional affiliations with NCURA or SRA preferred.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, public administration, or relevant field that supports the needed background for the position.
Salary: $140,000-$150,000 per year
