The Director Global RWE will lead the strategy development and execution of industry leading RWE capabilities and talent development across the Janssen Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO). This individual will work closely with the VP Global RWE and other leaders in GCSO to drive the GCSO transformation to optimize our global go-to-market launch planning strategies through innovative and highly strategic decisions and investments using RWE.
Major responsibilities include leveraging their deep industry expertise, and gaining critical cross-functional insight, on opportunities for acceleration of RWE growth across GCSO and putting that strategy into action. Key partnerships include working closely within GCDS, with global medical affairs, market access as well as partnering outside with other departments such as with regional commercial and scientific analytics and US Real World Value & Evidence (RWV&E), Global Epidemiology, J&J Technology Data Sciences, Janssen R&D Data Science, and others.
The Director Global RWE will ensure alignment with regional/local RWE stakeholder strategies and contribute to execution as needed. A close working relationship with the medical affairs and market access RWE team will also be essential to support the . This individual will sit on the GCSO Global RWE LT and will interact regularly with other leaders across GCSO and the regional businesses in support of commercial RWE initiatives. This individual will report directly to the VP, GCSO Global RWE, and partner closely with other members in the GCDS.
Responsibilities:
- In strong partnership with Global Medical Affairs, Global Market Access and other cross-functional Integrated Evidence Generation Planning (IEG) partners, co-create the RWE strategies. Develop key RWE-based insights on our early pipeline assets to drive global commercial strategies and create a competitive advantage by making better business decisions derived through strategic and patient-centric RWE approaches. Develop the global strategy for the generation and utilization of RWE for our key pipeline assets including, for example, data-driven patient journeys and deep-understanding of unmet medical needs.
- Be a technical leader for the RWE team by defining data and analytics strategies for specific RWE projects across GCSO. Identify and share best practices regarding methods of RWE studies. Further expand the internal Janssen/J&J knowledge and capacity to use evolving methodologies in RWE studies, using various training approaches and best practice sharing. Ensure scientifically and methodologically rigorous analyses are used for observational studies addressing medical, scientific, economic and outcomes research questions.
- Contribute to refining governance processes and contributing to local and global standards in methodologies. Effectively navigate technology, analytical, legal and privacy complexities to achieve objectives.
- Assist in leadership in the global strategy development and execution of industry leading RWE capabilities and talent development across the Janssen GCSO. Interact with and influence senior leadership across global Janssen and J&J on opportunities and investments in RWE that will provide key differentiation for our business growth.
- Work closely within GCSO with Commercial, Medical Affairs and Market Access teams to develop the global strategies for greatest impact and the plans to execute on them. Interface outside of GCSO with the regional businesses, US RWV&E, global epidemiology, R&D, JJT, legal, HCC and others in the development of the RWE strategy and guidelines for evidence generation and usage.
- Show leadership on project teams and set standards of excellence for the team by demonstrating professional expertise, strong work ethic, integrity and professional behavior.
- Lead the coordination and execution of all Evidence Lab across TAs and work with the rest of the RWE team members to build our learnings and strive for continuous improvements of the labs. Support building a global center of excellence in setting up scientific standards for RWE research and co-create and implement key strategic initiatives as designed with critical RWE stakeholders across the organization.
- Responsible for developing and coordinating capability building activities in alignment with the RWE strategy (e.g., building on existing internal resources for developing RWE operational frameworks/tools for conducting RWE research, lead initiatives on RWE competitive Intelligence or developing frameworks for data strategies together with the Global Data, Platforms and Partnerships team, support establishing key strategic partnerships with academic centers, evaluate the impact of RWE research and associated KPIs/metrics, etc) and also lead specific work streams required to deliver on the RWE strategy and priorities
- Work side by side with the CoE Data Science, Digital Health and Data, Platforms and Partnerships teams on joint projects to ensure the optimal combination of RWD/E methodologies and analytics along with AI/ML and Digital solutions are being leveraged to deliver on high value use cases / problems.
- Master's degree in a quantitative field such as epidemiology, health economics, econometrics, statistics, or related. PhD preferred.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience with RWE in a commercial, medical affairs, scientific affairs and/or R&D environment is required.
- Expert knowledge in RWE, epidemiology, health economics and outcomes research, statistical and/or other quantitative methods and predictive modelling frameworks and techniques is required.
- Strong technical domain know-how to lead, coach and grow a team required.
- Demonstrated ability to influence in a large and matrixed organization required.
- Experience to develop, communicate, advocate and execute a strategy required.
- Proven experience in prioritizing and managing a complicated portfolio of projects required.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset required.
- Expertise as a methodologist for observational studies (prospective and retrospective) from design through conduct, analysis and reporting required.
- Expertise working with claims databases and electronic medical (health) records required.
- Significant prior publication track record in epidemiology, clinical, statistical and/or health economic journals required.
- Experience interacting with academia, health systems and/or payers required.
- Excellent communication and training skills required.
- Experience with programming in major statistical analysis systems, such as SAS and R preferred.
- Firm understanding of the uses of evidence-based medicine and comparative effectiveness analyses for health policy decision-making preferred.
- Management of analytical and statistical activities of external service providers preferred.
- Experience working in multiple therapeutic areas preferred.
- The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000 to $271,400 USD.
- The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
