Director, Forecasting Pharmaceuticals
In Bayer’s Pharmaceuticals division, we focus on researching, developing, and marketing specialty-focused innovative medicines that provide significant clinical benefit and value, primarily in the therapeutic areas of cardiology, oncology, gynecology, hematology and ophthalmology. With our innovative products, we seek to achieve therapeutic benefit for patients, while at the same time satisfying the growing requirements of physicians and health insurers. As one of the leading research-based pharmaceutical companies worldwide, we have nearly 50 ongoing development projects in clinical trials.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Forecasting Pharmaceuticals, are to:
- Acting as business advisor to Franchise Leadership and partner with the CBI (Commercial Business Intelligence) team to ensure annual budgets and Forecasts are established for assigned Brands and anchored to data and insight driven assumptions.
- Ensure strong alignment on forecast assumptions with Franchise leadership, CBI, global brand teams, Finance, and Market Access Alignment with Local and Global Leadership across all forecasts;
- Provides proactive communication to all stakeholders of any significant event or activity that could have a financial impact;
- Creation of analytical models and data visualization for long term forecasts and multiple business scenarios;
- Responsible for identifying process improvements to increase efficiencies
- Preparing and presenting forecast updates to address specific questions (e.g. Deep Dives or new indications) gap and opportunity analysis;
- Providing timely, accurate data to support informed decision making;
- Providing business analyses and summaries of results; interpreting and communicating results and recommendations to brand/business stakeholders. Effectively explaining insights driving key assumptions in forecast and data caveats to global business stakeholders;
- Directing the development of custom market definitions for key therapeutic areas. Providing quality control oversight of key data sources;
- Ensuring effective legal and regulatory SOPs are understood and adhered to by vendors;
- Ensure smooth onboarding and integration of temporary Bayer consultants and third parties/agencies retained to support forecasting efforts.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required;
- Commercial healthcare analytics work experience;
- Forecasting experience is required;
- Technical experience building and manipulating Forecasting Models;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to regularly present concise executive summaries, structured syntheses of insights and business assumptions to senior management;
- Experience managing and guiding external consultants in achievement of shared business forecasting goals;
- Proven team and project leadership skills, experience in managing integrated cross-department initiatives;
- Strong analytical/quantitative skills and knowledge with the ability to understand the big picture;
- Ability to work collaboratively in matrixed environment within global community;
- Expertise with relevant pharmaceutical data sources including sales data sources (e.g. IQVIA, Symphony, etc);
- Experience in handling and analyzing various data types (e.g., epidemiologic and patient longitudinal claims data, sales, demand, units, promotional data) and experience with predictive data mining;
- Proven track record of professional success in analytics role;
- Must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy to plan, organize and implement multiple projects within time, budget and capacity constraints. Individual must set clear priorities and design KPIs for success with brand team and the ability to handle variable workload levels and effectively prioritize.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred;
- At least 10+ years of industry experience preferred;
- Launch experience preferred;
- Knowledge or experience in Oncology, Cardiovascular, Rare Disease, or Women’s Healthcare therapeutic areas preferred.
