The Environmental Waste and Storm Water Director is responsible to ensure all aspects of wastewater and stormwater management follow all local, state and federal regulations. This EHS Leadership role requires an individual with exceptional communication skills, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to execute strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement in safety, compliance, and sustainability practices.
Compensation: 120,000 To 140,000 Per Year
Job Tasks:
- Manage and facilitate corporate and government waste, wastewater and stormwater programs in a manner that ensures compliance with the regulations, permits and directives resulting from these programs.
- Develop and implement reporting for Federal and State wastewater discharge regulatory programs i.e., NPDES, LPDES, TPDES, etc.
- Develop and implement water quality programs including construction and industrial stormwater, wet weather and dry weather screening
- Develop and implement compliance management systems for Federal and State discharge permits
- Develop master inventory of wastewater treatment plants - notate which locations have an on-site wastewater technician
- Work with operations and EHS to develop Operations and Maintenance Plans on different types of Wastewater pretreatment systems.
- Work with the EHS Training team to develop, deploy, and follow-up on training needs and requirements.
- Responsible to verify that facilities are performing proper wastewater and stormwater sampling, pH meter calibration and troubleshooting, permit reviews and compliance.
- Develop and maintain discharge tracking logs and conduct periodic review; responsible to create, maintain, and verify data and metrics
- Responsible for trending data and performing on-site inspections to assure compliance.
- Responsible for preparing Wastewater pretreatment applications.
- Develop and write SWPPP plans for different types of operations.
- Develop and write SPCC plans for different types of operations.
- Conduct scheduled reviews of all plans to include Wastewater O&M Manuals, SWPPP, BMPs and SPCC.
- Responsible for working with EHS Training Department to develop and deliver training on wastewater pretreatment operations, stormwater sampling and recordkeeping.
- Responsible for ensuring the required inspections and audits are completed timely and accurately.
- Conduct waste inspections, safety equipment inspections, and other required facility permit inspections as needed.
- Accurate identification and classification of regulated materials
- Participate in incident investigation process and assist with corrective action plan development and implementation
- Participate in internal and external environmental audits.
- Partner with operations, safety, and engineering personnel to ensure work practices and/or equipment changes are integrated, efficient, and effective.
- Provide analysis and interpretations of environmental findings and prepare technical procedures and reports as required.
- Work with site employees on maintaining environmental compliance by providing training, auditing, compliance evaluations, and facility maintenance.
- In partnership with EHS Training Department, develop training and educational tools regarding environmental goals, compliance, and awareness.
- Responsible for identifying all required permits
- Work and manage in a matrix organization with shared resources.
- Responsible for complying with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations which are applicable
Requirements
- Effective management skills with wastewater permitting and compliance projects and employees.
- Proficient in technical writing to assist with Wastewater permit applications and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan preparation and development.
- General understanding of wastewater processes and mechanical knowledge of the different wastewater systems and how they function.
- 7-10 years of experience in waste and storm water
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management, health physics, geology, chemistry, or a related field
