Position Overview:
This role will oversee Sutter Medical Foundation in the Greater Sacramento Division and Sutter Gould Medical Foundation in the Central Valley Division.
* Travel required for onsite meetings in both divisions. *
Leads the strategic planning and direction for developing comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) services to affiliates in an operating unit or geographic area. Implements effective programs, systems, policies, procedures and practices to ensure affiliates' ongoing compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory protocols and requirements and to drive performance results. Monitors and evaluates operations to maintain a safe environment for all and to assure affiliate's readiness to responds to incidents. May serve as the coordinator for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) relating to access issues for healthcare services and activities.

This role requires to live in the Sutter Health footprint in Nothern California for onsite meetings in the Greater Sacramento and Central Valley Divisions.
EDUCATION:
+ _Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma._
+ Bachelor's: Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Safety or related field.
+ Master's: Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Safety or related field. _Preferred_
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
+ CSP-Certified Safety Professional
+ CHSP-Certified Healthcare Safety Professional
+ CSHM-Certified Safety and Health Manager
+ CHEM-Certified Healthcare Environmental Manager
+ REHS/RS-Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian
+ CIH-Certified Industrial Hygienist
+ CSP-Certified Safety Professional
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
+ 12 years recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
+ Working knowledge of legislative and regulatory protocols and requirements relating to occupational health and safety, emergency planning and preparedness, and hazardous waste/material management.
+ Understanding of hospital/ambulatory healthcare operations.
+ Familiar with construction and facilities design and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
+ Demonstrates understanding of access issues for services and activities, and familiarity with the ADA.
+ Strategic skills for reviewing processes and strategies to ensure successful alignment with business needs and for identifying improvement opportunities.
+ Analytical skills with proven ability to resolve issues/problems by leveraging business and functional knowledge, and client relationships.
+ Ability to operate strategically and tactically.
+ Demonstrates credible leadership presence, with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness and authority.
+ Ability to bring individuals together to resolve differences and/or to achieve acceptance of a solution.
+ Ability to influence others by persuasion, negotiation, and problem solving, and to move others to recognize and appreciate different points of view and to consider/accept alternative options.
+ Collaborative working style to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various project participants and/or stakeholders.

_The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package._
