About the Job
As Director, Construction Technology, and Innovation, You will be responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of construction-related technology and other technical services including, but not limited to, construction technology software (i.e. Procore, BuildingConnected, etc.), building information modeling (BIM), virtual design and construction (VDC), drones, laser scanning, evolving tool/equipment, and other services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop Graycor’s Construction Technology strategy (Construction Technology Roadmap) in alignment with the organizational goals and the trends of the industry.
- Execute the implementation of the Construction Technology strategy with the support of the Operational Excellence Committee (OEC).
- Plan and lead the implementation of new Construction Technology to be adopted (or changes in the original set-up), developing and maintaining change management protocols, workflows, and training regimens.
- Continuously monitor the use of Construction Technology to optimize and streamline use of the tools and identify and resolve challenges that end-users are facing. Work collaboratively with end-user groups to ensure that adopted technologies are consistently leveraged through project concept/design, project pursuit, preconstruction, operations, and facilities management / owner handover phases.
- Develop new ways to utilize technology and model-based information throughout the lifecycle of company projects.
- Conduct needs analysis and identify/research potential technology solutions that respond to business needs or can enhance our performance; prepares whitepapers for review and consideration.
- Lead cross-functional continuous improvement (CI) teams to vet, pilot/test, and evaluate technology solutions that will improve safety, reduce risk, increase efficiency / productivity, and/or improve quality performance.
- Support project teams with subject matter expertise during proposal development, technology planning and presentations. In conjunction with marketing departments, develop/update boilerplate construction technology marketing collateral as needed.
- Review the Quality Assessment Matrices (Q-RAM) and attend the start-up meeting for each project to make recommendations on Construction Technology services that can add value to the teams (i.e., drones, VDC/BIM, laser scanning, etc.).
- Work closely with Project Management / Leadership, Owners, and A/E partners to establish early expectations and project deliverables at all project phases.
- Serve as consultant/subject matter expert of evolving technology and best practices to educate and influence internal project teams, end-user groups, owners, and clients.
- Supports the IT department in the procurement/ renewal of Construction Technology solutions and the management of licenses. Ensure that construction technology products and services are procured in the most cost-effective manner.
- Serve as brand ambassador at various industry events while promoting Graycor as an innovative and progressive organization.
- Stay well informed and updated on evolving technology in the market while also communicating the value of updates when applicable.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction, construction technology, or information technology.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the construction industry; operations experience highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of design, construction, tools/equipment, and technology processes, platforms, and workflows.
- Ability to create a Construction Technology strategy and operationalize it, gaining support from others and rolling-up the sleeves as needed to implement it.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading the evaluation, approval, and implementation of new Construction Technology solutions. Strong understanding of change management principles.
- Strong desire/passion to remain current and informed on advancements in construction-related technology.
- Advanced knowledge and experience software applications such as: Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Procore, InEight, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills, controlled sense of urgency, and the ability manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Must possess strong communication/interpersonal skills and be confident in his/her ability to develop and manage the entire technology process; must have poise, polish, and effective presentation skills.
- Strong leadership/coaching skills and the ability to influence others to ensure high performing teams and committees; management skills also required.
- Interest and enthusiasm to promote the Graycor family of companies’ culture and brand through various industry/marketing events and public relations efforts.
- Ability to promote/sell evolving technology as a valuable resource to those who may be skeptical of its value.
- Ability to travel regularly to other offices and project sites as needed.
