What Compensation contributes to Cardinal Health
Compensation designs and administers competitive compensation programs to attract and retain employees, drive performance and results, and provide rewards for individuals and teams. This job family sets policies and structures around a variety of compensation types, including base pay, short-term incentives, long-term incentives and deferred compensation, and communicates policies to managers throughout the enterprise.
The Director, Compensation will drive broad-based and sales compensation for Pharma/Specialty segment, At-Home Solutions, Nuclear & Precision Health Solutions, OptiFreight, and Corporate functions. Additionally, he/she will:
+ Consult on compensation programs including compensation structures, short- and long-term incentive programs, salary administration, etc.
+ Participate in merger and acquisition activities including reviewing current compensation programs of newly acquired companies and creating strategies for go-forward compensation approach.
+ Consult with HR and Business Leaders to develop and administer solutions for compensation-related issues. Participates in the development of short and long-term compensation strategies, plans objectives to effectively address business needs.
+ Interpret internal and external market drivers to evaluate current compensation programs and recommends/implements changes to improve program effectiveness.
+ Apply incentive/reward theory and best practices in support of the development of programs.
+ Creates new and leverages current compensation tools/methodologies in the strategic design of compensation programs.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements.
+ Provide leadership to managers and experienced professional staff
+ Assist in the development of functional strategy
+ Interact with internal and/or external leaders, including senior management
+ Persuade others into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships
Responsibilities
+ Key part of leadership team defining and developing the strategic vision for global compensation that supports the business strategy and objectives
+ Helps in leading the design and development for Cardinal Health’s broad-based and sales compensation programs, plans and policies for multiple business segments and all corporate functions while balancing global consistency and local requirements
+ Leads team supporting multiple business segments and all corporate functions, including developing effective analytics that enables the organization to make data-driven compensation decisions
+ Providing leadership within Sales Incentive Plan governance, effectiveness reporting, and risk assessments for multiple business segments
+ Responsible for engaging with senior leaders to understand business goals and challenges that form the compensation strategy and design
+ Partners with senior HR leadership to ensure alignment of compensation-related priorities and investment decisions
+ Will operate as a compensation thought leader to understand and shape leading and emerging practices based on industry trends and external market practices
+ Reviewing current compensation programs of newly acquired companies and creating strategies for go-forward compensation approach.
+ Responsible for the management, coaching, and development of direct reports
+ Monitors existing compensation program effectiveness, while focusing on continuous improvement
+ Provides leader coaching and partnership on the annual compensation planning process, including preparation of salary recommendations
+ Remains knowledgeable of federal, state, and local laws to ensure that the compensation programs are compliant with corporate policies and government regulations
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s and Advanced Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
+ 10+ years experience in related field, including significant sales compensation experience
+ Prior supervisory experience; 5+ years people management experience preferred
+ Certified Compensation Professional preferred
+ Experience with Workday, HRIS, and Microsoft Office highly desirable
+ Ability to influence, deliver results and collaborate across functions and teams to ensure strategic alignment, organizational buy-in and operational effectiveness
+ Strong business and financial acumen and confident presence with senior management
+ Strategic, innovative and forward-looking thinker
+ Excellent communication, data and analytical skills
+ Proven experience leading and managing a high-performing team
+ Ability to travel 10-20%, depending on location
Anticipated salary range: $164,300 - $252,700
