Position Summary
Leads and manages community outreach team, including ERIE's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts through economic development, neighborhood development, and philanthropic activities. Develops and implements strategic direction for community outreach and economic development programs, including those related to volunteerism, Employee giving and community involvement. Engages and coordinates outreach efforts with ERIE leaders to support ERIE's business strategy across ERIE's footprint. Coordinates with other areas throughout the organization to utilize charitable giving and business-related community investment opportunities to enhance ERIE's reputation via public relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees Employee development as required.
Oversees ERIE's Total Contributions budget. Coordinates budgetary activities in support of overall charitable giving and non-philanthropic community business investments including implementation of related tax credit programs.
Supports Corporate Officer in serving as liaison to the Board of Director's Charitable Giving Committee.
Oversees the design, implementation and monitoring of economic development, neighborhood development, and community outreach programs within the organization. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and agreements and meets corporate goals and objectives, including effectively interacting with external community partners. Evaluates funding requests for charitable and non-philanthropic investments; and directs or approves requests based upon the manager's level of authority and the type of request.
Aligns community outreach efforts to enterprise-wide business initiatives, including, but not limited to, coordinating involvement in community outreach programs for diversity, equity, and inclusion; and reporting on the outcomes of these enterprise-wide business initiatives.
Identifies and initiates strategic alliances and partnerships with community groups across ERIE's footprint in coordination with its business leaders to support business goals, which includes development of and responsibility for employee giving and volunteerism programs.

Identifies and aligns ERIE's philanthropic and non-philanthropic community business investment strategies with business objectives, vision, and values; addresses the community outreach implications of business strategies and plans. Supports the evaluation and analysis of financial impacts of existing and proposed community outreach changes.
Represents ERIE with various civic, industry, economic development, and charitable organizations, as directed. Communicates information consistent with ERIE's policies and directives.
Oversees communications related to ERIE's Giving Network and other related programs, including website content and other materials. Coordinates with Media Relations and Strategic Communications to develop story ideas and communicate both internally and externally about ERIE's community engagement. Monitors related costs.
Makes presentations to internal and external audiences as required.
Completes special projects as required.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, communications, journalism, or related field, required. Master's degree preferred. Eight years' experience in human resources, community relations, communications, public relations, or a related field, required. Supervisory experience required. Media relations and/or public affairs experience, including experience designing or implementing community outreach programs strongly preferred. Ability to understand and interpret market research and statistical analysis preferred. Periodic travel and overnight stays required.
