About the Job
The Director of Communications for the Office of Research (OOR) is a strategic communications role with broad and deep responsibilities including managing a complex portfolio of projects to continuously improve communications and marketing for the OOR and reporting areas and developing strategies to amplify the impact of research communications originating from across the university. This individual is responsible for managing and advising on all research communications with a primary focus on the management of digital channels and guided by the principles of customer service excellence. This individual will provide leadership and vision for BUs research communications strategy; conceive, execute, and assess research communication strategies and vehicles; directly manage and advise on internal and external campaigns and communications related to BUs research enterprise; oversee the online presence development and maintenance of the Office of Research website; and provide oversight, support and training to reporting areas in developing and maintaining their websites and communications.
Qualifications will include demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications and marketing program to advance a complex organization's mission and goals; a creative problem-solver, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output; a persuasive communicator, with exceptional written, interpersonal, and presentation skills; experience mentoring and coaching communications specialists; and the ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
Required Skills
B.A./B.S., very strong writing and communication skills, experience managing a large website, use of web-based content management systems, research-related workflows, and customer service and five-plus years of related experience.
