Director, Cloud Engineering, Azure - MAXhealth

Location: Sarasota or Tampa Bay regions with hybrid flexibility after initial training (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) The position may require occasional travel to other locations and on-call availability for critical incidents.

MaxHealth is seeking a Director, Cloud Engineering to join our Information Technology team. The Director will oversee all aspects of the organization's cloud engineering, governance, and migration/modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing cloud engineers and architects, ensuring the efficient, secure, and reliable operation of our cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in Azure and involves overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud services tailored to meet our business's complex needs.

This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership skills to drive innovation and operational excellence in our IT infrastructure and operations.

Job Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 5 - 7 years of experience with infrastructure and cloud technologies with a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in Azure cloud architecture and design.
• Proven experience in Enterprise SaaS platforms, Infrastructure engineering, or cloud operations technical leadership role.
• Networking and Security: Strong knowledge of cloud network configurations, firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and security best practices.Extensive knowledge of infrastructure via Infrastructure as code tools such Terraform.
• Experience in implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines5 years' experience in people management, fostering professional growth and leading teams to success in a senior management capacity
• Deep knowledge of Azure services, infrastructure as code, Azure DevOps and automation tools including Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, or Bicep.
• Solid understanding of python and PowerShell, a plus
• Experience in developing and implementing cloud governance policies, processes, and best practices.
• Familiarity with Entra ID for identity and access management.
• Familiarity with Azure App Services for building, deploying, and scaling web apps.
• Strong understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity principles and practices for cloud environments.
• Excellent budget management, forecasting, and cost optimization skills for cloud infrastructure and services.
• Experience in the healthcare industry
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence decision-making processes related to cloud architecture and solutions
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as SOX, PCI DSS, HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines as they are updated by the Federal Government.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute strategic plans for cloud infrastructure and operations aligned with organizational goals.
• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Oversee the architecture, deployment, and operation of private cloud solutions using Azure, and Kubernetes to ensure scalability, security, and high availability.
• Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal teams (security, data engineering, operations) and external partners to align cloud strategies with organizational goals.
• Guide the development and implementation of cloud-based applications and services.
• Utilize platforms and services such as Azure VM, AAD, Azure Virtual Desktop, Monitor, Security Center, Logic Apps, Backup & Recovery, Storage, Functions, ADF, and Sentinel.
• Design, engineer, and deliver advanced hybrid cloud platforms and infrastructure features using Azure services like Azure Virtual Network, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Container Instances.
• Implement an automation-first approach using Azure-native and Terraform infrastructure-as-code technologies, ensuring central control and governance over the deployment process.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality Azure cloud solutions, prioritizing security, instrumentation, and extensibility specific to Azure.
• Promote and uphold Azure-specific standards and Well-Architected best practices for design, engineering changes, cost optimization, and configuration management.
• M365 Management, Device Management, & End User Experience: Oversee Microsoft 365 services, including governance, security, and optimization to enhance productivity, end-user experience, and collaboration across the organization. Ensure people, processes, and platforms are working in harmony to optimize service delivery and end-user experience.
• Lead corporate-wide information and operations technology initiatives, ensuring successful completion within set milestones, deliverables, budgets, and timelines, seeking opportunities for improvements and efficiencies.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop a global Cloud Infrastructure and Operations strategy, policies, procedures, SLAs, and ensure adherence.
• Leads holistic platform security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions.
• Establish and enforce best practices for Infrastructure operations, including monitoring, automation and disaster recovery.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA etc.
• Oversee financial aspect of the Cloud Infrastructure and implement FinOps strategies.
• Manage Vendor relationships and contracts related to Infrastructure and cloud services.
