Description
The Business Development Director will identify site locations, and market intelligence across the US to develop greenfield and early-stage projects. In addition, they will lead the submission of request for proposals (RFPs) and build relationship with Utilities and Commercial and Industrial customers. The role is vital to building and maintaining relationships across U.S. power markets with various customer categories with a focus on developing the growth plan for the US.
The role will be based in Cubico’s Austin office, working closely with the Development and Investments teams to drive growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand market fundamentals in US regulated and unregulated markets.
- Develop market strategies for the development team to pursue interconnection viability, and lease strategy for future greenfield opportunities.
- Maintain and expand relationships across the US with various stakeholders, including commodity traders, corporates, and utilities.
- Manage existing contracts and execute revenue contracts, including power, renewable energy credits (RECs), capacity, and ancillary services.
- Provide market intelligence updates and monitor energy market trends, including staying informed on emerging contract structures, Transmission, and market fundamentals.
- Handle project management and responses to RFPs, offer pricing, and coordinate with relevant teams.
- Engage with O&E team members in other markets as to ensure global relationships are covered and leveraged appropriately and knowledge shared appropriately.
- Management of Portfolio Project Manager + future direct reports

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The ideal candidate will have:
· 7-10 years’ combined experience in the development, origination and growth strategy for the U.S. market.
· Strong communication, power point and written skills
· Proven track record in solar, battery, and wind acquisition processes.
· In-depth knowledge of US renewable market and regulations.
· Established network with offtake customers and developers, including experience in regulated and unregulated markets.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across cultures.
· Strong commercial acumen and organizational skills.
· Ability to work under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and maintain high standards.
