SUMMARY:
The person in this position has the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. He or she must have the ability to make effective decisions and to communicate in a professional manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Prepare and implement the business plan
•Keep records of all incidents and report them to Genesee & Wyoming and the FRA, as applicable
•Assist claims representatives and/or legal representatives with discovery and production of documents on matters affecting the railroad
•Recover expenses for railroad property loss and damage caused by third parties
•Prepare correspondence, reports, graphs, and procedural manuals as required by the general manager
•Monitor all charges, RWCs, demurrage, and storage in INFO
•Manage/audit car-hire claims, haulage, reciprocal switch, and detour trains
•Other Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills
•Ability to think and work independently and make decisions
•Good knowledge of railroad operations, especially clerical
•Good skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) a plus
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
•Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; one year of related experience may be substituted for each year of college
