About the Job
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the Company's accounting functions for the CANAM Region. This includes maintaining a system of internal controls that ensure company assets are safeguarded and that all financial reporting meets all compliance-related standards working closely with the Global Director - Accounting. The position oversees all facets of accounting operations, including the monthly close cycle, internal and external financial reporting, policy development, and communication with the parent company regarding financial results and reporting.This position will have a hybrid work schedule (in office/remote) located in Ann Arbor, MI.
Essential Functions:
- Represent Pinkerton's core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
- Manage, coordinate, and provide daily work direction and/or oversight to daily, monthly, and annual accounting functions, including the processing of transactions, monthly and annual closes, preparing financial statements, and tracking, reconciling, and balancing general ledger accounts.
- Oversee and manage financial functions such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, accrued revenue, provisions, bonus provisions, and prepaid costs.
- Administer and oversee expense reporting and American Express account management to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
- Conduct cost center and project analysis, ensuring correct dimensions are booked and reconciliations are completed accurately.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including all controllers and finance team members and operations teams and work closely with the Group CFO and Group CEO, to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Advise CFO and leadership on potential areas of financial risk and provide strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance and capitalize on business opportunities.
- Coordinate with the Global Director - Accounting on both internal and external audits, facilitating periodic reviews of company financial records. Implement agreed-upon audit recommendations, ensuring accountability and incorporating improvements within the areas of responsibility.
- Interpret, develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies, processes, and procedures, providing counsel on accounting-related issues, business transactions, and financial disclosures.
- Oversee daily cash management, cash forecasts, and ensure efficient operations in accounts payable and receivable.
- Provide training, guidance, and direction to the accounting team, fostering an environment of efficiency, timeliness, and knowledgeable performance.
- Adjust daily operations to meet department goals and objectives successfully.
- Drive and support process improvements, efficiency initiatives, automation, and change management to streamline accounting operations and develop relevant metrics.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) in Finance, Accounting, or related field and at least seven years of tactical senior level financial accounting experience within a global corporate environment. Competencies:
- Certified Public Accountant.
- High level understanding of ERP systems including SAP, Oracle or MS Dynamics 365.
- Experience in MS Dynamics D365 preferred.
- Senior level financial accounting within a global corporate environment.
- Able to lead and direct a high performing team.
- Foreign Exchange, Translation experience.
- Expert level financial and analytical skills across multiple areas of responsibility including GAAP, IFRS, tax matters, and statutory reporting.
- Familiarity with SOC standards.
- Various regulatory filing and other compliance procedures experience.
- Large volume transactional environment experience.
- Experienced in scaling an organization, preferred.
- Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
- Attentive to detail and accuracy.
- Computer skills; Microsoft Office.
