Position Summary:
The Director - Accounting will support the SVP - Accounting in a multifaceted role responsible for enterprise-wide general accounting, monthly closing including account analysis and aide in the annual budget and quarterly forecast preparations. S/he will help in executing financial account reconciliation and strategies that establish proper accounting controls to ensure the financial integrity of the Company. This position needs a hands-on, willingness to jump in and take-charge and lead a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, accounts payable analysis, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation. The successful candidate will be one who seeks a visible position which will support key decision making and addresses tight deadlines.
The candidate must be experienced and have the required educational background necessary to be successful in a changing, results-oriented organization. S/he must have a thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles including best practices and procedures related to internal and external audit functions, GAAP accounting standards and ability to prepare monthly/annual financial statements. The successful individual will need to rely upon experience, expertise and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A proven ability to perform a wide variety of accounting related tasks, lead others and able to work with a level of supervision commensurate with the role. Individual must possess a proficiency working within an ERP system and Business Intelligence (BI) systems. Finally, the candidate must be well rounded, with the ability to work closely and cooperatively with the CFO, SVP - Accounting and PMO teams to standardize and improve performance measures and analytical methods to ensure integrity of information is consistent and relevant to senior management. An individual with experience working within a Private Equity owned business will be given a serious look. Principal Responsibilities:
- Aide in re-building and then maintaining financial infrastructure, primary responsibility for the monthly accounting close and account analysis preparation;
- Become the “super-user” of Sage ERP system, overseeing current change initiatives and integration with supporting systems;
- Provide guidance to other finance team members and complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines;
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations at all times;
- Must ensure the month close is completed timely and accurately, including review of all account reconciliations and key accruals;
- Manage and lead the GCC staff and senior accountants to ensure key financial personnel are operating and performing within Company guidelines;
- Change agent willing to get behind the numbers, seek new ways of performing daily/weekly tasks that will drive change and move the organization to new levels of performance;
- Provide solid financial reporting and forecast accuracy while strengthening processes and procedures throughout the accounting/finance department;
- Aide in establishing annual budget and report on monthly performance versus those objectives along with VP - FPA;
- Responsible for the review of payroll entries and ensure accuracy of ledger posting; and
- Perform other related accounting/financial duties as required or requested by CFO and/or SVP – Accounting.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum of 7 - 10 years of increasing level of responsibilities in a service and/or distribution company;
- Extensive experience in acquisitions and related technical purchase accounting;
- Demonstrated strategic thinking surrounding the Company’s financial systems infrastructure;
- Ability to amicably solve issues and provide quality judgment and decision making;
- Proven track record of developing, implementing and maintaining an accounting/finance function;
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and ability to learn internal systems programs;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field required (CPA or MBA is required); and
- Relevant experience in audit and cost accounting is advantageous.
