Job DescriptionAre you passionate about making a meaningful difference in people's lives? Join our team as a Direct Support Professional in Washington, DC! We're seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to provide essential support to adults and children with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- Assist individuals with personal hygiene and daily living activities
- Ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for person served
- Provide emotional support and companionship in the person served homes
- Accompany residents on community outings and recreational activities
- Prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping duties
- Implement and monitor individual care plans
- Conduct monthly fire drills and maintain safety protocols
- Assist with medication administration as directed
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of client activities and progress
- Collaborate with team members and healthcare professionals to ensure quality care
- Complete shift checklist and document all tasks outlined in the checklist throughout shift
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Successfully complete Phase I and II orientation training approved by DDA
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in reading and writing English
- Physical ability to assist with personal care and perform light housekeeping duties
- Demonstrated empathy and patience when working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Complete other trainings as required by stakeholders and management
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
- Willingness to learn and adapt to clients' individual needs
- Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Emotional stability and resilience
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Additional Information
Compensation: $17.50 per hour
