This position is for individualized care, not in a group home. 

Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

• Providing direct care and supervision for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to increase their independence in their home and community.
• Providing support with medical and specialist appointments and ensuring accurate documentation of each appointment.
• Providing support with daily activities including but not limited to hygiene, volunteer, or leisure actives.
• Completing all required documentation according to regulations and standards.
• Participating in meetings with individual support plan team to create inclusive and person-centered services
• Participating in initial and on-going staff training and development activities
  

Direct Support Professional Qualifications:

• Must pass extensive background check with a clean record
  
• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. This is state regulations!
• Experience with providing support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
• Must possess excellent customer service skills, a flexible and cooperative attitude, and the ability to work well as part of a team
• Possess a valid NJ Driver’s License with a clean driving record, valid vehicle registration, and insurance.
• Successfully complete required background checks.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing, reaching, walking, driving, traveling, kneeling, and crouching.
