CCL is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) to work with adults with developmental disabilities. The DSP interacts with and supports the individual in a variety of potential settings including community, family or individual homes and generic community settings.
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will have the opportunity to support individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve the quality of life they value.
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide high-quality care to individuals with complex medical needs, such as quadriplegia, cerebral palsy, and seizure disorders. The ideal candidate will have a background in supporting people with high medical needs and providing personal care, ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for the people in our agency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and care for individuals with high medical needs, including those with quadriplegia, cerebral palsy, and seizure disorders.
- Assist with daily living activities, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support.
- Administer medications and monitor vital signs, documenting and reporting any changes in health status.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans.
- Use assistive devices and equipment safely, including wheelchairs, lifts, and other mobility aids.
- Support clients in achieving their personal goals and engaging in social and recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and follow all health and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a DSP or in a similar role, with specific experience supporting individuals with high medical needs.
- Strong understanding of proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant training or education is a plus.
Job requirements include: Valid drivers' license, clean driving record. Must be able to pass a criminal history background, physical and drug screen.
