Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and facilitating participation in daily activities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, patience, and a strong commitment to promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for individuals in our care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Assist individuals with personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medication in accordance with individual care plans and document accurately.
- Encourage and support individuals in participating in daily activities, such as meal preparation, household chores, and recreational outings.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes independence and self-advocacy.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of individual progress, incidents, and other relevant information.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of care.
- Monitor and report any changes in individuals' physical or emotional well-being to appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies in providing care and support.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or training in human services or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals, their families, and other team members.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding when working with individuals with diverse needs and abilities.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement appropriate strategies and techniques for supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
