Dir Pre-Services - Huntsville Hospital Health System

Responsible and accountable for the management and operational oversight of the following departments; Scheduling, Preregistration and Precertification which encompasses approximately 48 FTE(s).

Develops/implements policies and procedures that guide and support service, assesses and improves department performance and ensures orientation and continuing education of departmental staff.  As the leader, this person may recommend resourced/space needed by the department and may participate in the selection of outside services.

Successful management is critical to enhancing timely scheduling, preauthorization and preregistration prior to the patients’ arrival.  Securing accounts financially to reduce denials and streamline payments.

Works directly with department leadership, Information Technology and executive leadership to identify areas of improvement and successfully develop metrics to track progress and identify opportunities for improvement.

The Director will will assure hospital compliance with Advanced Beneficiary Notification (ABN), Medicare as a Secondary Payer (MSP), Advanced Directives, Patient Bill of Rights, and Medical Necessity.

Education:    Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related filed. Equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirement

Experience:  Two to three (2-3) years of acute care hospital or health system Registration Services/Patient access experience required. Experience in healthcare provider finance operations or similar service environment. Financial and project management experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Ability to effectively collaborate as a part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated professionalism, patient and customer focused. Familiar with hospital, Federal, State and departmental policy and procedures. Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement, efficiency and innovative   thinking and challenge the status quo with the goal of creating a consistent, seamless, transparent and exceptional patient experience.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Excellent organizational skills and exhibits diplomacy and time management skills. Must be proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Microsoft Publisher, PowerPoint and Access preferred. Ability to motivate teams to reach defined goals
