About the Job
The Director of Health System Revenue Cycle will be responsible for daily operations and oversight of the following activities at Huntsville Hospital Health System and any affiliates HH has active Revenue Cycle management responsibilities.
- Bad debt assessment and collection
- Credit balance review
- Refund assessment and processing
- Customer service and correspondence resolution
- Patient accounting department
- Bankruptcy scrubs
- Outsourced operational management including self-pay collections, collection agency, and refund processing
- Insurance Billing and Follow up
- Payment and contractual posting
- Denials and Appeals management
- Regulatory and payer compliance of collection standards
- Updated and applied accurate policy and procedures
- Outsourced operational management including collections, secondary insurance collections, and liability collections
This includes the direct management of exempt level Revenue Cycle department directors and managers and other business office staff. This requires that the Director Health System Revenue Cycle maintain efficient operations by effectively utilizing all staff and technology resources. Will work with the Executive Director of Hospital Revenue Cycle to set long-term and short-term goals and monitor progress of goals and monitor progress of overall revenue cycle functions.
Qualifications:Education required: Bachelors degree. Maintained continuing education in the areas of revenue cycle management and improvement
Education preferred: Advanced degree. Comparable combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience: 3 to 5 years working experience as manager of healthcare financial operations (i.e. hospital based billing, insurance collections, or payer relations). Direct working knowledge of hospital Revenue Cycle operations and management. Extensive experience in policy development and process improvement initiatives.
Additional skills/abilities:
- Manage/lead exempt managerial level staff and project specialists.
- Ability to gather and apply regulatory billing requirements for collecting, coding, and insurance payors (i.e. Medicare, Alabama Medicaid, etc.)
- Ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Effective communication skills demonstrating ability to communicate to direct staff, upper management, and cross-departmental staff.
- Demonstrates thorough previous work experience a mature approach to problem identification and solving.
- Ability to review staff members work, audit results, and take corrective action as needed.
- Manage multi-tasks in a high volume producing work environment.
- Experience coordinating outsourced services of the patient accounting function.
- Day-to-day applications and proficiency in EXCEL and WORD
- Ability to utilize PowerPoint and ACCESS as a basic level.
- 10 - key calculator
- Experience in utilizing interoffice e-mails, report management, and database report writer (i.e. Crystal reports, Medefinance, EPSI, or Access)
