Overview
Rock Ridge is a family-oriented private country club in Newtown, CT, situated conveniently close to Brookfield, Bethel, Danbury, Easton, Monroe, New Milford and Redding. The clubhouse boasts a lovely outside patio and fire pit that becomes the hub of the club's social activities in summer.
Position Summary
The Dining Room Manager (DRM) will work closely with the General Manager (GM) to ensure the general operation of staff functions is held to the highest standard. The DRM is responsible for all front of house dining operations of non-golf or tennis related functions in the absence of the GM. There is a strong focus on staff development including hiring, onboarding, and continuous training of the front of the house service staff. The position works closely with the GM and assists in the planning, organizing, and execution of events.
Job Description
MEMBER EXPERIENCE
- Will keep the members' experience as the top priority.
- Addresses Member and Guest complaints and advise General Manager about appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop effective means of promoting Club functions.
SERVICE
- Supervises service staff to help ensure proper service standards are being followed.
- Maintain visibility during meals and event periods to greet Members and Guests and assist staff when needed.
- Ensure staff is adhering to all criteria regarding grooming, uniform requirements, and other standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Ensure that all side work is complete, and all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
In conjunction with the General Manager:
- Hire, onboard, train, and develop continuous training programs for front of the house service staff.
- Maintain necessary staffing levels within departmental budget.
- Develop standard operating procedures to help ensure that bars and dining rooms are set up and operated efficiently.
- Plan and coordinate training and professional development programs for club personnel and himself/herself
- Intervenes with conflict resolution among staff members.
- Enforces Club policies and provides support, coaching, and guidance to staff through continuous communication and annual performance reviews where applicable. Conducts disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Maintain personnel records.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Manages all aspects of the club's Dining Experience in the absence of the GM.
- Oversee club operations daily with a focus on Food & Beverage, member service
- Assists the GM in developing/implementing strategic and annual plans, operating reports, forecasts, and budgets.
- Monitors the budget and recommends corrective action/procedures as necessary to help ensure budget goals are attained.
FACILITIES
- Continuous attention to opportunities for cost savings or areas in need of efficiency improvement around the Club
- Makes recommendations regarding necessary special maintenance and/or repair improvements.
KEY QUALITIES
- Experience with private clubs, upscale dining establishments, or hospitality strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), POS Systems

- Open Wednesday - Sunday; Weekday/Weekend work required
